Would there be sn easier way to switch weapons than the current 5 taps it now takes? Selen & Caid both have benefits of cursing ranged attacks but totally mop up dual wielding later in battles. The switching and switching back is just a bit of a hassle.

The game isn't really design for you to change gear mid-combat. We did a lot of experimentation with it and found that overall the builds that require switching aren't worth chasing.
I'll put it on the list for something we might consider after Episode 4 is completed. The design choices around it were baked into the game during the Alpha, so they're very old and hard to change.
We did go ahead and fix this issue in our next game, Templar Battleforce. We eliminated the ability to change gear while in combat, which keeps things very simple and makes the UI a lot cleaner.
EDIT: What type of solution would work for you? If you could switch between two sets of gear?

Even when I'm using a Sword and Shield Vraes I like to switch to a Two Hand sword for large enemies or bosses. Maybe a Swap button under the talent and items button and extra weapon slots in the inventory?

To be able to switch fluidly between one handed and shield over to a 2H would be INSANELY useful. Someone as capable of handling weapons as Vraes, Fyona, Selen, and Kincaid should be able to switch weapons on the fly. Yes it would take some time to do it, but make it a flat 2ap cost to switch between the two. This guarantees the removal of one attack while still being viable during combat.

Have you played Kotor 2, something like that. An extra slot below the primary weapon slot.

Definitely something for us to think about, but not a high priority. I still feel that while it might be fun, there are enough viable strategies in the game without it. As fallen said, maybe next game or after EP4 is done.
