Hmmm, I hate to be that guy, but am a little worried what those changes will do for the higher difficulty levels. I'm currently playing through phase 1 a second time on ironman nightmare. How far are those reductions reaching, Cory? In your opinion do they have a significant effect on the higher (hard+) difficulty levels?

How far are those reductions reaching, Cory? In your opinion do they have a significant effect on the higher (hard+) difficulty levels? As far as I have registered and counted, the feedback has been overwhelmingly that the game is too hard. If you are comfortable in Iron Nightmare on Phase 1, you may not be able to find a similar experience in Phase 2. We'll judge Phase 2 based on your feedback -- I'm sorta guessing that after everyone has a few hours of Templar command, we'll see a big shift the other way, as people drop the early player tactics and settle in to the game.

Yeah, I'm not sure I want such and overall nerf of the difficulty. I've already said this else where, but what was surprising to me was that Nightmare didn't feel significantly more difficult than hard. Even after completing it on Ironman NM, I went back and played level 4 on hard and had a more difficult time completing the mission than on NM. Maybe it's all just spawn dice rolls and I've gotten lucky on NM so far, but my first captain on Nightmare made it all the way through without losing a single squad member.

I personally hope that nightmare will be tuned to give us nightmares

We will get it right. I don't think we want the Tutorial to be too hard on any difficulty level. I suspect that contributor you can clear Red Hill on Nightmare in HoS with zero deaths?

Are you talking about getting out, or getting back in? If it's the trip back in, there's a reason it's called the Red Hill Rampage. It's a slaughter, even on Nightmare.

So we are doing a clean install in phase 2 and deleting the old apk or is it just going to be a dl and self-update? Saved games wiped?

DL and self update, saved games should be fine for Phase 2 I think. That's something we haven't been able to do before, no breaking changes to the saved game file during phase 1 alpha. Crazy =)

Wow, so we'll be able to take our squad from phase 1 to phase 2? That's pretty awesome! Look like I'll have to push my way through the tutorial on my nightmare ironman!

If we'll be able to keep our saves from phase 1, will we be able to play phase 1 levels during phase 2 ?

beuns - yes, you'll still be able to "Start a New Game" into the tutorial or skip it to jump right into the new content.

If you've made changes to the tutorial it would probably be good to kindly invite the Alpha team to play through it again and give more feedback. There might be a lot of us who just want to jump into the new content immediately.

contributor it's always fun to jump into the new stuff, but I loved the tutorial - and am very keen to play through again with P2 because many of the issues we've identified will have been resolved and it'll make the experience all new again Also, the gap between P's should give us all enough time to try out the tutorials, the difficulties, and the new stuff. Cory Trese, what is the release cadence between P's? Is it based on sprint completion - or are you doing two sprints per release? So contributor, you do the new stuff, I'll do the old stuff, and we'll meet up on level 7 together. You bring the beers.

slayernz - we develop a list of "Phase X Blockers" and we won't release a new phase until they are all closed. That's what we've been sorting through over the last week / week and a half.
