"What a lovely day!" The last few days and haven't slept too much due to an upper respiratory infection. And now any chance of sleep tonight is lost from sheer aweomeness trauma. The soundtrack is much more varied this time, with a track or two I already have in my music que. But when the Xenos show up and the original TA level theme starts playing it really cemented the game into the universe. I thought, "I'm home."
I didnt think the standard Leviathan weapon had a burst feature to it. Going from the original game where you only have 15 -20 or so rounds vs xenos and narvs and being fired from exo suits I figured they fired big honkin bullets semi auto like the 30mm cannons the AMP suits used in Avatar. Excellent weapon effects. Especially on the plasma sidearm. Speaking of guns. Is the pistol the Engineer uses related to the light Leviathan?
Dimorphous gauntlets are pretty interesting too. The Templar on the title screen reminds me a bit of a fiddler crab. To quote from the first Hellboy movie, "Look at the size of that whammer!"
I'm not certain, but having never heard the term "battle barge" outside of a Warhammer 40K reference, I'm hoping its not an exclusive term, like how George Lucas has rights to the term 'droid'. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Templar and their unit affiliations.

I, too, am so totally excited to dive in to this game. I have only just started my first team on hard and am already liking how everything is flowing. I'm with dayan in the interest surrounding the Templar's story. I'm wondering if we'll get cool technical blurbs surrounding the gear we unlock and use? It'd be cool to learn a little about the tech of the Templars. Also, interesting idea with the heat mechanic. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out with some of the more advanced types of Leviathan, like the Hydra/Neptune.

A bit of HoS influence (group buffs ect),and CK game concepts (like heat, stats) are in BF.I thought I even seen an icon or two from star trader 4x,anyways I am liking the mix. dayan I'll second that I liked the sfx too. Hope you feel better soon,a new TB game release can help with the recovery..just what the doc ordered!

interesting idea with the heat mechanic. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out with some of the more advanced types of Leviathan, like the Hydra/Neptune. Good lord don't give them any ideas lol. In vaccuum, heat is actually one of the larger issues a suited astronaut has to deal with since there can be no convection of heat. Unless it's been retconned, Cory said a long time ago that the Leviathan suits had a micro void reactor. The action/movement to heat thing is old hat to me as an old BattleTech hand. It complicates things, but realistically it makes some sense given the exo suit and its electronics.

It does look like 40K is a pretty heavy user of "battle barge" but I found literary references elsewhere -- no doubt where Game's Workshop originally stole it.
However, it is a pair of words that may be too strongly associated with 40K's baggage for us to use. Great point, we will probably revise and remove it just to avoid confusion.
That last thing we want is to make people think about the abomination that is GW.

Also, that short intro will be replaced with something far more cinematic soon Thank you for sharing all of your impressions! We know that the team's exciting would drive us to new heights of productivity, coffee and lack of sleep to make this game amazing for you. You can surely see the games in our catalog that have influenced Battleforce for sure.

I tried this weekend to get every piece of HoS and 4X artwork out of there, but I think I missed a few.
As with the Templar, our games have lineages that echo in them forever.

I gave the game a quick go on my Android Nexus 7 and my Windows 7 PC. So here are some first impressions and spontaneous thoughts... Looking great HOS influence heavily, but HOS is awesome so win/win in my book. More variety in the music, thumbs up! I am loving Grenades, the impact graphic is awesome! The Level/Tech Tree looks impressive! The pile of dead xenos can make it difficult to find the living xenos when you get in a big battle, maybe shade the dead sprite in a slightly different tone or color to make it easier to spot them? Some grammatical errors in dialog need to be cleaned up. I'll have to play again to find the specifics. The combat circle radius around characters during attack skills is a bit misleading. The circle is a little large for Melee, and a full square too small for Ranged Attack. This is a super minor gripe, but the title screen graphic has the Templar's left melee hand with a power fist pawing the broadsword, it doesn't even look like he would be able to wield it. Maybe put on a different angle or beef up the sword hilt? Again this is SUPER minor, It's more of a marketing thing down the road when the game launches. I like what you did with the helmets, different slot and design making up each class. Perhaps adding more graphic later to each helmet class later down the road to further distinguish between the different classes. I can see people getting confused when they are deeper into the game many members in their squad. WIndows WIdescreen doesn't work, atleast it doesn't appear to be working. My PC setup is odd where I go through a 47" HD TV and I am pretty far away from the screen so I play on low resolution 1360x768(Couch/Bed PC Gaming), I tried some higher resolutions 1600X900, and 1920x1080 same result widescreen doesn't work in the game options. Overall it is shaping up well, more to come...

vintoks - 1. Helmets - in the HQ, select a Templar and chose the Customize - change the face and armor design! I think there are 26 face options atm? 2. Sword grip - that is the unique Templar sword grip. "Paw" is probably the right word, in which the index finger locks around the blade and the cross-bar. 3. Fullscreen toggle is fixed for next. Thanks for all the encouragement! Glad the first look is looking good

I noticed that the Templar's helmet is clipped pretty bad on the title screen. As to the Xeno. The little skitterlings are very difficult to pick out over the mottled remains of their cohorts. An idea is to highlight each living xeno with a green bracket, to indicate a tracking lock by the suit's sensor kit. Kind of like the fire control displays on fighter planes.

dayan - I imagine the clipping is happening due to your device size atm. We will improve the corpse vs. xeno display.

The Xeno being difficult to distinguish is extremely notable for me, especially when out of the lit up areas. I would love to see either the live Xeno be far brighter, or the dead Xeno far darker. If changing the color is out of the question, then dayan's idea would be extremely helpful.
