Lances and Plasma Cannons

Would it be possible to get a Fighter Class ship with either Lances or Plasma Cannons? It'd be cool with lances because the usually go on ships I'm uncomfortable using at close range. I just said plasma cannons too because it sounds cool:P

Fighters are defined by being light weapon ships, so in this case, no I do not think that is possible.
