There are some pretty fun levels in the original Templar Assault. It would be cool to see some of them redone for BF. Non-TA players might not even notice them, but the vets would be lovin em.

Want to suggest the levels you love? We're generally working on all-new content.

The problem with recreating old levels with the new technology is that (a) it takes focus away from all new stuff (and we love all new stuff) (b) the whole balance has to be re-designed because the game mechanics are different. You no longer have to worry about firing arcs, zig-zag movement, and other such challenges. You have doors that actually open (guessing future levels will allow you to close doors too) ... and many other things.
So something that was truly awesome in TA would be less challenging in BF. For example, Siege of Roavin has always been a favourite of mine (suiting Neptunes and Hydras as suppressors. However, you with, say, 6 squad members, and overwatch, you could probably do the campaign without breaking a sweat.
Of course, having a Vestmarch series of levels would be an interesting set of campaigns with a nice story arc. It's pretty challenging, and could be adapted. So now I think of it - if you could take the essence of the TA campaigns, and morph them into BF new level design, you could give people the best of both worlds. Something familiar, yet an all new experience

I would love to take on the Xeno Hive Tyrant again!
One of my best Captains, Captain Matthias, took one on in single combat with his Palace Blade and destroyed it in about 3 turns.

In TA, you could genuinely do lone-wolf campaigns ... I'd shudder to think of what would happen to even an experienced lone wolf captain with BF

Bosses and other horrible things -- coming. All in all tho, I think I agree with slayernz. We have so many more tools in the toolkit now -- which you can see from levels in P2 and from the tutorial. I think we'll get better results by focusing on new, exciting and imaginative ideas for BF instead of pulling from the past. That said, anyone is willing to toss out "the best level" names and we'll take a gander!

I would rather see this as an IAP later. A "classics pack" or something. And have all efforts focused on new content right now.

here we go again asking for an IAP. I appreciate the respect for the immense number of hours it would take to create. We are really not trying to re-create Templar Assault, however. We've made a very different, very improved tactics game. Eye on the goal -- all new content.

ntsheep Its not so much asking for an IAP as If classic maps are something the community really wants I would rather see it as an optional expansion later down the line and since you would be getting a remastered version of TA...yea I think it should have a price tag. And saying that I would want it separated out as a separate project form the main BF development

Yeah, I definitely wasn't asking for you guys to try and recreate the exact TA mission and everything or make a big deal out of it. I was more just thinking that even if you just started with the same map layout and then built a BF mission inside it, it would be sort of fun. A little easter egg for the old guys. I liked those early TA levels where you started with you group all spread out and then you had to get everyone together and make it to the exit pushing down long hallways.
