I think that the SP cost of Ordnance & Upgrades is far too high and they pretty much price themselves out of the game
At the moment it is rare to see a level take more than about 25 turns, and the opening priority is usually to bring in reinforcements. This leaves very little time to accrue SP for additional spending, and by the time you come close to the 1000 SP needed for Minor Meditech or the 500 SP needed for +1 Reinforced structure the level is about over. I appreciate that the accrual rate can be boosted, but again, by the time you have saved up for the boost it is all over anyway.
I would like to see the SP cost reduced so that Ordnance & Upgrades are more accessible, maybe by as much as a factor of 10.
What does everybody else think?

From a mathematical perspective, a factor of 10 dramatically unbalances the game unless we nerfed the ordinance effects by an amount so large they'd cease to be fun.
Specifically the Meditech is intentionally expensive, the other ordinances and upgrades are less so compared to unit deploy costs. Healing is a huge part of Heroes of Steel, but much less so in Templar Battleforce and I'm very, very happy about that choice.
Ordnance & Upgrades pricing is balanced to help the guide the player to deploying Templars first, and purchasing Ordinance and Upgrades second.

Ok. It just seems a shame to have all this good stuff around the TP and hardly a chance to use it.

I'll give it a few test games with them discounted by 50%.
Maybe it should be based on difficulty. I will try a test and give your input some thought.
Thanks for taking the time to post.

When I saw the costs my thoughts were the same. Why have something in the game if you will never use it.
However if you design specific scenarios where they are affordable and needed, than cool.
Such as finding a "broken" one that the engineer can repair while being swarmed. Call it "Rourks Drift"

I agree with the comments here. I never use the upgrades, because they're too expensive vs. the time it takes to complete a level. Maybe on very extended fights where you've got 2 or 3 TP's and are going to spend 30 -40 turns to complete the level.
They also somewhat seem unbalanced from a value perspective. I know I don't see all of the math behind it, but I can get a whole new templar or add 1 HP to my TP, which might make it last one more turn. Unless you've already got all your templars deployed, there's not really a choice in there.

Right on -- deploying Templars is priority #1.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I'm usually trying to save TP to recruit someone and by then the TP is lost. I think upgrades should cost a lot less. Or maybe separate UP / Upgrade Points?

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
No need to separate SP for Templars and Upgrades -- that will alienate too many players.

Just wanted to echo what everyone else is saying. Unless the levels are really long (40+ turns), the upgrades aren't worth the investment imo.
