Alright I looked for 45 minutes, I checked the Wikki, none of the 3.9 new officers are listed. If there is a document somewhere that specifies all of the officers in one place, with their requirements and bonuses it would help me a lot. If it already exists and I was too dumb to find it maybe someone could help. As is, I found info on some officers, spread out over multiple posts, and talk of the pilot officer, but not the info I want. I want to know EVERYTHING about the pilot. Right now I think he needs vodka, but I am not sure, maybe it is spice. Please help a brother out.

Ah, I was wondering the same just a few days ago. Here you go mate: Pilot officer? Alien hunter? Who are they and what do they provide? Neither of these are in help files! Help File Oversight #245 =) We are working to improve the help files. I have been saying that for about 7 months now, I know, but I do mean it. I'm just slow. They are officers that can be recruited to serve your captain. You can have up to three officers, and each one gives you different bonuses (and in some cases penalties). The Pilot Officer can be found in a palace on a planet that has the rumor of visiting spice traders. He gives bonuses to piloting stuffs. The Veteran Officer (often refered to as the alien hunter) can be found on the wild zones of planets that have the rumor of alien activity. He give bonuses to fighting aliens, does extra damage when you successfully board an opponent, but he is so crazy and creepy that he can hurt morale.

Thanks for the quick reply, that is helpful but what I was really looking for was more like, what do I need in the hold for his bonus, spice or vudka? And something to give me more of an idea exactly what his bonuses are so I can decide if I should tie up one of my three positions with him. I do not have a link to provide, but a while ago I found a post that Cory answered with a lot more detailed stats on the officers, of course this was before the pilot and also didn't say anything about the alien hunter, although it is the pilot I am most interested. I saw somthing that said he provided a bonus to short range combat, and I think it said a bonus for manuevering up to short range, but I was hoping like I said to find out for sure what I should cache, to get the best bonus from him. And maybe something to give me some kind of idea how much the bonus is. Thanks in advance. Everyone has been really nice.

I think the veteran needs artifacts for his bonus's. Now i know why my crews moral is always low n im a pirate lol. They not meant to have moral issues. Maybe it is my veteran. Tim to put him out the airlock ima thinking. Also have no idea on pilot :-)

I saw some other posts about pilot officer and a promise that their would be an update to the documentation with info on bonuses for the new officers. I am still looking but I have not found any cargo items that seems to make a big difference with the pilot, although I am late in game turns now and not so keen to fire him to try without.
Anyone know what if any hold items help?
I guess it is time I started a new captain anyhow if not.

Still on the list. Andrew and I are both getting hammered at work -- he's travelling and I'm transitioning between positions. Some gap analysis showed that we actually need another officer to balance out some of the bonuses. I'm waiting a little bit on the art work for that before launching into the Officer V3 list -- but honestly, just getting time to do the customer support and coding is difficult right now, much less re-writing documentation

I can't recall where, but I vaguely recall hearing that the pilot's bonus cargo was spice.
(which makes keeping him and a political officer fairly cheap, in terms of cargo-space at least, since they share that.)
-abs may love his red-headed mechanic dearly, but he doesn't love the 20% of his cargo space she wants reserved for crystals and metals when he's making a run to a world with a shortage

@ Cory No worries mate, I just wondered if I had missed something. Hang in there!
@abs Spice is interesting (Dune reference?) and would explain my lack of success with experimentation as I had spice for my political officer all the time and was only testing other goods not used for other things. Thanks!

Yes, Pilot special skill is enhanced by Spice. Not so much a Dune reference, but more of the fact that pilots can gain an edge if they are hyped up on a semi-legal narcotic
