"Captain Cautious"
Prefers to take command in the center of the squad. He doesn't like to be close and personal with the Xenos, and he prefers to use his sidearm to shoot them down and lob his grenades.
He carries his blade more as a symbol of command than a desire to use it. In case the Xenos get too close, he's upgraded to the Broadblade for the extra Parry and strapped on a Aegis Wiring for 8% auto-block.
He likes Pressing Need because his Engineer always seems to need a little extra help to get to the TP.
His Swift Kit, Warriors Wrath 1, and Pressing Need 1, help him move to where he needs to be... which is usually 3 tiles away from a Xeno for his sidearm.

Nice build! The ranged captain can be very powerful. Planning on Arc Fire?

Nice build! The ranged captain can be very powerful. Planning on Arc Fire? I've got Arc Fire 2 right now. On another game, I had the captain focus on strength/warrior (melee) and was a little more fun because I could stick him out front and not sweat.

I built him by getting Slash, then Honing, then Bladeweave.
Honing is really good for buffing up your Bladeweave, and gives him a ranged attack.

Super Slaughter Machine Averages 2.2 Kills per Turn Wow! Captain Cautious has 0.7 kills per turn average. His best level was 1.1 & 1.5 kills per turn, probably from grenade use.

Where do you get your stats on kills per turn for the captain?
I developed my captain as captain cautious, but plsy him bold. I developed fire, grenades, and extra movement. I'll team him with either a scout or a paladin for missions like artifacts. The captain can blow a hole thru a chokepoint and the fast moving scout gets thru and gets back quickly while the captain holds the ground, blows thru the new swarm and back to the squad to end the game. The paladin stays between the rest of the squad and the objective and heals where necessary.

Where do you get your stats on kills per turn for the captain? In the HQ, you can get the # turns from Record. Then under Veterans, click Captain and then click his/her Record to see Captain's kills for each mission .

My Captians are built for flexibility with weapons, having a defensively tipped Sword, powerful Pistol, and focusing on Buff talents.

I've got a Captain Tank at level 14. He's a defense and melee machine. His kills are low though because he's most often going on crazy stunts to pull levers and retrieve artifacts. He's part Shaolin monk because he just runs by most of the xeno's on his way to where he's going. Only those foolish enough try and attack him face the wrath of his counter attacks. I never knew how good he was though until he took on two Goliath's single-handedly along with a Broodmother and some skitterlings on the Stratos Vaults level (ok, the engineer would like me to tell you that he did fire two shots at them with his side arm, though only one of them connected). The Goliaths brought my captain down to 14 HP but then I called in the Paladin for a little healing and he went on to go after the seal of the Zendu all by himself.
He rocks the Knight's Shield, Force Blade, and Watchdog Whisperer. I just switched out the Swift Kit for the Commander's Leviathan armor, before that he was using Swift and Augmented Command Leviathan.
Talents are Commander's Confidence 4, Warriors Wrath 4 and Bladeweave 2.
Attributes: Fort: 8 Will: 2 Focus: 2 Strength: 12 Quickness: 4
Skills: Gunnery: 4 Warrior: 13 Tactics: 5 Evasion: 4 Grenades: 3
He also works a lot with other's buffs on him when the fighting gets rough. He can get Power Shield 3 from the Engineer and Warding Fire 3 from the Paladin. My Hydra also does Inferno Seal 2. On his stunts I load him up with buffs and then buy the ordinance that extends them for 4 turns to keep him going. Those things are great.
