As a suggestion for a way to make the game more variable (more choices) without a lot of the work that goes into character building.
Have an IAP that allows you to take one of the 8 original characters and swap out skills with their counterpart.
So custom Vraes could swap Stone skin for sure-party or Juggernaut for storm of steel. Custom Vincent could swap thundering blades for whatever the fire equivalent was called (mind gone blank). Or swap Lightening storm for choking ash.
This would add a huge amount of variability to the game (even more than currently have) without a lot of the work involved in creating a brand new character. (no new graphics, text, balancing/creating new talents)
Just like with boost-in high scores probably shouldn't count because it may impact balance (make game easier in some cases).

I'm not sure it'll be possible for Selen/Tamilin. What'd you change QSD for? Blacknight? DI?

It would lead to some crazy game-breaking combinations for sure. As anrdaemon mentioned, Pinning Shot + Deadly Intuition ... ohh la la.

On another thought, if game engine allows for such combinations in principle, this can be an interesting choice for when the game gets older, and for off-ladder, no-score parties. Let people do what they would like to, as long as they keep it in private, it is their own private business.

Maybe so but two things can be done. 1) Don't count high scores for parties using custom teams. If this is an optional purchase (not the main game) I don't think this matters. Boost in already does same thing doesn't it? 2) Make it a choice. 'This' or 'this'. Making the most popular of char 1 against most popular of char 2 (not both). Or when there is a comparable alternative force choice between them (thundering blades or the fire equivalent... Not both. ). This would make near endless combinations and would be a heck of a lot of fun to play with.

Boost-in lets you skip content you are [supposedly] already tired of by this point. So, not quite the same thing.
