odomi, Please explain "spam trade meetings, trade summits and spice treaties because they are FREE". Trade Meetings cost $100, Trade Summits $200. Are they free because you spend all the money in your Treasury on construction and then initiate them when Treasury is zero? Alliance is superior to Trade Alliance. An Alliance decreases maintenance by 10%, whereas Trade Alliance decreases it by only 5%. Check out the stats at the Star Traders 4x Game Manual, which is different from the senate library. When an economy goes to tank and have negative net profit, one major factor that is causing this is due to politics. So, with the trese brothers' good graces they have allowed to commision treaties with negative savings account. Any treaties purchased if bank is 0 or below, it becomes free of charge. When Cory said he will fix this...does it mean he will start charging? Im OK with that. as long as it still allows to queue up treaties in unlimited amount. Dang! everytime I open my mouth, Cory closes loop holes.

Cory Trese, can you clarify? I'd like to add this to the Guide to Politics on which I'm working. When Treasurey <=0, you could block initiation of Diplomacy for Positive Politics (e.g. Trade Route), BUT allow initiations of Diplomacy to end Negative Politics (e.g., Solar War).

Ticket #3149 4X - RFE - Block Trade Treaties with $0 I do not, nor do the test, use this feature so it is being removed. Is it possible to keep that option or at least have it still cost what it should cost in lower levels? In my earlier games, with terrible building sequence for new colinies, morale suffers and down with it is profitability. My solution was to demolish all my ships and even then still in the negative, only leaving me with an option to pursue trade routes to get back on black. Now that I know what I'm doing, I was just taking advantage of that loop hole. I could survive without it. But for beginners, it might be discouraging and just abandon current games.
