Didn't want to start a new thread for just one quick question, it does fit here a bit. Should a xeno be this damn strong on Normal. It made a mockery of my Super Boost In squad I just created. Thankfully I got my Paladin out in time to heal every one, but almost all my attacks did nothing to hurt it. Bullets just bounced right off it. It took four whole turns just to kill it. It didn't always attack me or the TP each round either. Was kinda fun, but something like this may scare others off a bit.

ntsheep - depends on the level of your squad. Looks correct to me.

That's the first level of Dessert Nexus. Everyone was still at level 8. I thought I was fighting a mini boss or something. Like I said, it was kinda fun. Caught me off guard and force a quick change in tactics and made things exciting. If things are this new and fun on Normal, should I even try Nightmare. Did laundry the other day but may not have enough clean underwear

On Normal you're fighting Level 8 vs. Level 8 -- on nightmare it would be Level 12 Xeno.

But yes, there was a major combat rebalance around damage and penetration (see youor weapons) and armor and deflection (see monster detail box and your armors).

So far I've noticed that my Captain, who has over 10 Strength and Warrior, can hurt them pretty good but the trade off is they hit back pretty good also. I had to back him up with a Paladin to heal him and also whack away with his sword. Haven't had a chance yet to put a Hydra up against one. Just got done with level 2 but by the time I got one out, there were no more Goliaths to kill

Something about >100% deflection seems weird to me... but I understand how the math works from the Library entry.

Hydra's don't do much better. I can understand having a hard skin the deflects bullets, but I would think flames would hit more often or always. Oh well, just have to think up some fun ways to kill the buggers

ntsheep - fire damage and bio-poison go around armor and hit the enemy's resistance.

Will we always be at the mercy of the dice, or will there be times our squads will kick ass and takes names without much trouble. It seems like if the xenos will always be at your or few levels higher than you, even with skills and talents raised some fights will just be too much trouble. I'm finding it's taking between 4-6 turns on average to kill just one Goliath. And that's having every one just concentrate on it. I did play a bit of the bugged level 4 tutorial and got to where that was mentioned in the on screen dialog. I like the idea of them being a sort of mini boss. It's just a little bit of a let down right now when I have 6 or more knights pour everything they got on it and it just shakes it off, walks up to one and slices him in half. The more I'm playing, the more I'm liking the rebalancing and everything. I'm sorry this is coming out like a complaint so much. I'm having trouble figuring out how to say this. I like the challenge, but I'm feeling like there's something trick or weakness I'm suppose to find to kill them easier. Perhaps I'll try harsh language, that may work

ntsheep - glad the re-balance is sitting well. Level #4 does feature the Goliath as a boss (when fixed). What difficulty are you playing on?

Normal only at the moment fallen. My SOP with each new release has been to play Normal first, then go up a level or two in difficulty to compare things.
