We're working on a new icon for BF - you can see the draft copy on your mobile deploys. What do you think? Clearly - it's very rough, but we're hoping to get feedback on the design draft before we move forward.

When I first saw it on the phone (HTC m8), I stared at it to try to figure out some of the details. To me, it would be better as a wallpaper than a game icon because of all the details. I like the HoS icons and clarity of details in the small icon: Slightly rounded edges looks better to me when the icon is inside my games folder on the home screen.

jknut - it is a draft, so we wouldn't expect there to be a lot of details yet Thanks for the feedback!

jknut - it is a draft, so we wouldn't expect there to be a lot of details yet Thanks for the feedback! I think it looks good, but I meant to say that the objects in the icon may be too small to easily see on a phone. The HoS icons are more zoomed in (face or upper body) so it's easier to see.

jknut's side by side comparison is very helpful. I think Selen's "Action Pose" trumps "Character Portrait". The TBF icon details are really cool lending an alien ambiance to wet the buyer's appetite. But I'm wondering if an action pose a little more zoomed in might be better? Compare HoS Selen to TBF Soldier. Could a soldier higher zoom level maintain a sense of movement?

Overall I like it. I would say keep working on it. As I looked at the captain and tried to figure out his pose exactly, I was wondering if he was signaling his squad to charge. It was somewhat ambiguous and maybe that was not the intention but I like that idea, especially considering that this is a squad based game not a lone wolf shooter. Personally, I think I would like it a little more if it was clear that he giving the signal to attack. It wouldn't need more characters, just maybe a lowering of the sword angle to make it more inline with his arm, or raising his other arm.

I like it! It's just so small on my phone, but not high enough resolution on my tablet

Working on some of the improvements suggested by our awesome alpha team! This is perfect! The background lighting is a great color choice. The action stance is daring you not to look at it.

Awesome. Side question: should there be Xeno blood dripping from the sword?

jknut - as seen in all the comments above, you've got to be really picky with what details you try to add. Details just become confusing when the icon is shrunk and put on devices. So, I think in this case, we're heading for a simpler, epic stance, bold colors, heavy contrast, low "extra" details Thanks for the feedback all!

I LOVE that icon. I would even go so far as to remove the Xeno legs and insert a Templar in their place. We all know what they are, but others might be confused and think they're foliage or something.
Substituting Templars there would reinforce the concept of a squad based game.

En1gma - thanks for the feedback, glad you feel like it's headed in the right direction. At this point, we are very wary of "too many details (xeno legs or more Templars) "
