Note 4
5.0.1
hard
I've played 5 times with no luck.
I'm finding this to be basically a game of chance. No tactics.
For instance,
It appears the switches are totally random and have no continuity. For instance from one attempt, the first switch is on (bottom center). If I go up, this switch blows. If I go left, this blows. If I go right it is good. From here I proceed up and to the left. It blows. This makes the two good ones isolated from any possible other circuitry. It also appears that there is a much greater chance of finding bad switches in this part of the map. Thus the good switches are amongst those near the top where they are spread out with critters nearly unkillable and spawning rapidly.
Not only does this make it much harder (understatement), but takes away from the high tech (reality immersion) of the game.
I use titanium backup saves to help figure out problems like this. I am suspecting that saves may reset the random remaining location of the good switches. It's hard to tell.
To kill any of the critters takes 3+ hits. The number of misses is very high.
After checking out the bottom 6 switches the number of critters is nearly overwelming. I believe the victory conditions of find 7 out of 10 good switches does not include the one switched on in the demo. Including this one and at this point of the game, I've never had more than 3 good switches and usually only 2. At this point the critters are nearly overwhelming in numbers, I've used up the found meds, and injuries are approaching critical.
I would estimate as a new player, and even an alpha tester, I would need to play thru 2-3 times to more or less get the hang of the game. In addition, I would have to play another 3-4 times minimum to learn where the switches are. Then keep playing til luck let's me win with few casualties. 0 losses would be very lucky.
I do not consider this type of map a tutorial type map. It would be better placed upstream where a game of chance type map could be played with a better trained squad. In fact, I would put this type of map very low on my list of enjoyable type maps.
