I just wanted to say that I'm starting to finally enjoy the Hydra's after their talents got some of the kinks worked out. Hell Fire is devastating and in a busy alley makes almost as good of a fire block as the Napalm. I'm not sure there's as epic as the TA Hydra's yet, but maybe I just need a few more levels up.
Oh one thing though. I often have a hard time seeing xenos who are engulfed in fire square. I've let a few of the buggers run in too close when I could have picked them off if I knew they were in there. I'm slightly color-blind though so maybe it's not such an issue for other players.

contributor - glad you're finding the Hydra fun. The challenge with visibility in the fire is a tough one, which is on our list but lower priority atm.

I want to chime in that I am also substantially enjoying the Hydra right now. With boosting just their basic attack talents they are significant area denial specialists and can hold all on their own. Napalm is the best grenade.
I was always a Neptune guy in TA but right now I'm firmly in the Hydra camp for BF.

@rearick - I'm still pretty split decision ... Great to hear the battle is back on!

If Captain America were to play BF I think even he might say "Hail Hydra!"

@rearick - I'm still pretty split decision ... Great to hear the battle is back on! I am looking forward to the game being released. I'm excited to organically develop a Neptune and/or hear how other people are building them. I'm definitely open to a Neptune vote in the future, but right now they just run so much hotter than Hydras (ironically enough) and it really cramps my style.

Neptune runs hot if you specialize on a 15 Heat attack. Their first attack, Full Auto, can hit up to 16 targets so it has a high minimum heat value.
To run a cooler Neptune, specialize on one of the lower heat value attacks.

sixteen targets! Mind you, a full auto burst from a TA Neptune could max out at 24 targets, although he may run out of ammo part of the way through mowing down the horde.

I think the max I've hit with a Neptune is six.

The Neptune definitely has some major advantages that can't be scoffed at.

I've done 10 kills with a neptune in TA in one round - but I had funneled the Xenos into the shooting range .. most of the time the Neptune's ready to shoot but not got anything to shoot at.
In BF - there is probably the opposite situation where there are so many things that he can shoot, it's just a matter of how much of a heat-glow you want him to have.
I've gotta spin up a Hydra and see how he burns ...

I've gotta spin up a Hydra and see how he burns ... Hydra can be more resource intensive because you need to buy and resupply the tanks. Be warned that in BF fire burns a lot hotter and a lot longer in TA. The small dense fire blast from the Hydra is very, very hot.

I like hydras.
I use them to create blocks and passageways thru placement of their fire.
I use full auto for special times and their single square weapon as their primary. Two hits takes out most xenos.
I would like to see humans and critters have an aversion to fire. Perhaps the longer it's been down the greater chance of all avoiding a burning aquare.
As it is, I'm pretty careful as to where the fire goes and make sure there is a safe path thru the inferno. I move the team along the safe path so as to not et burned, so to speak.
