I wanted to revisit the discussion we had earlier about Scout strategy and development. The specialists are getting a lot of attention as we figure out how to use them and work towards integrating them in our teams, but I think that the scouts have developed equally and with new talents and combat balancing are really coming into their own. So here's some questions to kick off:
With the combat balance now in play, do you find needlers or sniper rifles to be more effective for your scouts?
How are you managing heat from all scout attack talents being a +6?
Has the combat balancing refocused your scouts away from stealth?
Which of the three combat talents are you investing in?
What is your overall most effective scout build under the new rules?
I'm loving the Piercing Shot talents with Needle Rifles. I'm finding that my scouts are incredibly helpful for defense of TPs paired with just about anyone. Other thoughts?

- I overheat my scouts. If necessary, they will Buff Stealth and just sit to cool off for 1-2 Turns. - I use Stealth on all my Scouts. It helps them avoid damage.
- I build one Scout with both curses and a Needle rifle. He hits each Xeno only once, fast Xeno get the MP curse, tough Xeno get the Piercing curse. This scout does Quickness, Fortitude, Gunnery and Stealth. - I use Headshot with the highest penetration weapon possible. This scout does Strength, Focus, Gunnery and Stealth.
- Scouts are great for hanging out with a Sentry Pod. They are also very easily healed with the Paladin.

I equip my Needler Scout with a Needle Cannon, then focus on defensive Wargear and Overdrive, as they are my go to when I need a location explored. My best sniper so far has a Mensin Naga Rifle for 100% Penetration. They use Field of Focus, but but not enough to seriously impact their MP. They put more points into Headshot and Sensorkit Sweep, rather than curses.

I have one sniper scout and one stealth scout. The Snipe basically does lots of headshot, but he also has one level of crippling as well to help slow down incoming xenos for others. He tends to be my floater when we're trying to hold a TP. He moves to help whoever is happening to be overwhelmed at the moment.
My stealth scout at level 11 has 4 Crippling Fire, 3 Overdrive and 1 Null Field. I really like the higher level of Crippling because it lets him keep enemies at range while he's running around in their back field. By nuking their AP and MP he keeps himself a lot safer. He was amazing on the Gates of Stratos level. I think I could have had him do both switches himself. As it was, he took the right switch and then provided cover for the captain who went for the left switch. With his range he could cripple the xenos that would have gone for the captain and let him outrun them. I really feel like Crippling Fire is one of the best attack talents in the game. By doinking MP and dodge it ensures that the enemy won't ever get through your OW fields.

Great write up, contributor. I think the observation about stacking defense debuffs to maximize OW is very well put. I hadn't really considered that as an overall Scout build strategy, but it is definitely clever!

I build one "heavy" and one "light" scout.
I've used them as most have above. They are the ones who I use to support the other squad members thanks to their fast move, stealth, and long range.

Great write up, contributor. I think the observation about stacking defense debuffs to maximize OW is very well put. I hadn't really considered that as an overall Scout build strategy, but it is definitely clever! Yeah, I'm finding the use of Crippling for my speed/stealth scout to be very awesome. I just finished the Stratos Vault level and he totally rocked it. One of the best things about the use of crippling is being able to help determine where enemies will end up. One of the worst things, once your behind enemy lines, is getting stuck with a xeno blocking a choke point so that you have to wait for him to clear out, burning precious turns and buffs where you don't really want to be sitting. With crippling I can determine how much MP a xeno has and therefore, often times, whether he will finish his turn parked in that 1-tile-wide hallway that I really need to get through.

contributor - really excited to hear your Scout strategies. Really promising to hear that the design of the stealth system and the set of Hindering Attacks that Scouts have are really paying off "in the wild"
