Okay, another question
Is there a way to tell what an individual colony's maintenance cost and income is? I'd like to know which colonies are causing me problems.
Hmmm...okay, are the values ($ + X / - X) at the bottom left of the colony detail screen telling me that? Where the + number is income, and the - numbers are maint costs?

If I understand correctly, the +x is a given colony's income after maintenance, and the -x is that colony's actual maintenance costs.

That's correct.

The first number on the colony screen is the NET income? So total income generated minus maintenance? OMG. That explains a lot. Not very intuitive though ;-)
And I never understood why my empire is still generating a profit when so many individual colonies are running at a "loss" (first positive number < the maintenance cost number) Thanks eternalheathen, that was about the most useful one-liner here in this forum for me!
