I just encountered one of these. Will attacking/looting it bring any penalties, considering it is derelict?

Hive ships will not incur any penalties for defeating or looting them, if you can defeat them that is.

So far every space hive I met was trying to run awayaway and if couldn't, then shoot my ship to pieces... And if it was a ship without guns, then... Well, these ships always escapednso far  |

The best time to catch them is while you are at a low level. They are fairly hard to catch even then, and it gets harder and harder as time goes on
