New poster here. Bug occurred on LG G4, difficulty Demanding. After exploring till I was last man on the ship, I was traveling through the quadrant to find my next crew of explorers (read: alien/trap bait) when I encountered a ship. It was not aggressive, nor did I attack. I ignored it, and upon leaving the area my captain was injured. Indeed, checking my status I lost a hit point, bringing me to one. Puzzled but undaunted I continued to travel to the next planet. Then suddenly, another ship! This one was a friendly flag so I acknowledged, figuring it would be fine. Alas! I sustained my final injury and my glorious Ultra Paragon died, apparently suffering from dementia in his age because the final two logs claimed he fought to the last man against both ships and sustained injuries in battle.
I dunno, I'm thinking my first mate put him out of his misery after watching one too many strange burrowing alien creatures inhabit his body.
Tldr; lone captain injured in non aggressive disengagements with non aggressive ships. Action logged a boarded combat and captain killed. Captain's log verifies game recorded encounters as battles.

chordant what is the missing piece in this mystery of the lost hp is what was your reputation with the factions that took your hp? If it's a pirate and you don't have a trade permit then even if you're friendly with them they may still be mean. It's a bummer that you left your return to a safe port with such a low amount of crew and hp. As an explorer, don't take so much risk as your health is your biggest asset. For crew, don't use more crew than 2/3 your cargo space. Any more is a waste.

If you are the only Crew on the ship, any Crew Death (accidents, Water-Fuel, Ice Harvest, etc) causes HP loss.
1 Crew Death = 1 HP loss.
This is not a bug. Don't try to solo pilot a Starship that requires 30 people to run safely.
You'll get hurt.
What you are calling "non aggressive disengagements with non aggressive ships" still turns over a turn -- the processor executes a full move following the disengagement. This is the law of ST: aggressive or otherwise, the turns must flow.

Hey guys, phone model is LG G4 and OS version is 5.1.
For Slayernz, I was positive reputation with all factions and no warrants; I had actually just dug myself out of a -300 rep hole with House Thulun after a poorly decided choice to trade with my home faction a lot of trade permit goods I hit the jackpot with on a previous exploration. I had permits, warrants, and ranks with all factions. On demanding it wasn't too tough to have pos rep with all of the flags. Good info though about the crew...So 90 crew on a 105 cargo is too much? I did had have trade item extra space upgrades on the craft, one of the flagship vessels.
And Cory, I don't debate the crew vs engine facts; naturally I expected I may sustain damage from that. But the issue is the game logged my injuries as occurring in combat that didn't happen; the captain's logs state I fought to the last man against each vessel, which didn't happen. I was also in green space, so my chance of injury was significantly lower and unless those damages were pure coincidence with encounters, I am wondering why they were logged as combat....unless given the encounter that was the only way the game knew how to justify me sustaining damage from solo manning a huge ship.

Yep! I did a few hours of debugging on this and it turns out ... it was exactly as I described.
The game falls through all the different logging options for the Wound, and since the last tracked event was the outcome of a battle, it logs it as a battle wound.
Since you are in the special case of being solo, it logs them as solo battle wounds. That's really the only thing the game can correctly do in this case.
Thanks for the questions -- glad we were able to answer them!

I appreciate the check, Cory! I'm a little sad my captain died still, but I'm glad it was the result of the legitimate constraints of the game and not a bug. With how far I got with him and the need to earn some more unlocks, it's time for a harder difficulty anyway. Thanks for the excellent game!

Running a ship solo is always very, very dangerous
