/ooc going to bed, I'll post in the morning, is almost midnight here.../ooc
First reaction would be to finish out Faction Politics, so we may build Exchange 2 and form Trade Alliances. I'll discuss this with my fellow councilmen and return refreshed in the morning.

PC5, PM 1,2,3, Javet Mining for Orbital Refinery 3 would be fine by me. However I do agree that finishing out Faction Politics makes sense.

Since discussions have been attempted in each of Clan Javat's boardroom and House Thulun's boardroom, I come now to the main chambers to present the Exalted Clan Moklumnue's proposal for the coming cycle. I believe that I'm speaking for all in our Exalted Clan Moklumnue, however if any of the esteemed councilors wish to alter or disagree with my statements please allow them to speak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proposal for cycle 2; Clan Moklumnue
I shall start by simply stating things as the Exalted Clan Moklumnue ideally wants them.
Research Order
1) Space Colonization 1 2) Space Colonization 2 3) Faction Politics 3 4) Starship Construction 2 5) Fighters 1
Colonization Rights The Exalted Clan Moklumnue wishes to lay claim to the systems of Olggavan Hold and Leiwin
Construction orders 1) The Exalted Clan Moklumnue trusts your Excellency to handle the production of our prime colony. 2) The Exalted Clan Moklumnue wishes to delay the construction of any military vessels until after the research of Fighters 1
Scouting The Exalted Clan Moklumnue pushes for continued reconnaissance of the surrounding space. Prior orders regarding the breaking of contact with the xeno in such a way as to not reveal the position of our space shall remain in place.
Explanation of above proposal The Exalted Clan Moklumnue has the Empire's interest at heart, regardless of the heinous accusations some members of Clan Javat and House Thulun. Therefore, we still maintain that the Empire is best served by enhancing its economic foundation. Regaining advanced colonization methods, in the form of the Colony Module II which is unlocked through the technology Space Colonization 2, should be prime in the Empire's mind. If we are to expand, doing so with the Colony Module II would allow each colony to be established with the ability to exploit minerals and provide room for additional colonists. After gaining access to Colony Module II, gaining the knowledge of Faction Politics 3 which would allow us to form trade alliances as well as level 2 exchanges would go a long way to maximizing our colonies' profitability. After unlocking these technologies, emphasis should be placed on the production of second generation fighter craft which, while being cheap and easy to maintain, can be a solid foundation for our Empire's fleets. Accordingly, delaying the production of military vessels until more advanced technologies are available simply makes sense.
Leiwin and Olggavan Hold are both good quality systems that are located near our prime colony. Once settlement of those systems is completed, the Exalted Clan Moklumnue can be depended on to not only provide mass credits to the Empire, but also to secure the lower flanks of the Empire.
Knowledge is power, and as such scouting should be continued. The more we know, the less can harm us in the long term.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, the Exalted Clan Moklumnue is a most understanding and gracious entity. We are more than willing to negotiate any of the terms above, and gladly welcome any counter-proposals that either the industrious Clan Javat or the honorable House Thulun wishes to offer. As an example, we could potentially be supportive of building a strike fighter IF assurances were given to us regarding continued scouting. Also, the order of research is not set in stone and could potentially change. Additionally, we could support moving the research of Starship Construction 2 and Fighter 2 to the top of our queue in order to advance the construction of second generation fighters if the other houses cede Olggavan Hold and Leiwin to our Exalted Clan. Our Exlated Clan Moklumnue is willing to see reason. industrious Clan Javat, honorable House Thulun, all you must do is simply work with us.

OOC I realize that I may seem like I'm being a bit of a booger with all this politics stuff, so I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know that I'm just roleplaying and there is nothing personal with this. One of the defining characteristics of the ST universe, in my opinion, is the political system. It's less apparent in 4X, but in STRPG the politics can be a total bitch. So, I'm trying to play as if I am a typical politician, out for myself and my clan above all else. If this is taking away fun from other people, well I can easily tone down the "back-room-dealing" aspect of my character. Do you regret inviting me to the game yet, CdrPlatypus? Hahaha /OOC

//OOC regret inviting you johndramey ?! not at all. I'm loving seeing some hardball politiking In my last game I thought everyone was playing too nice. From STRPG I would say it's cannon for the factions to fight tooth and nail above and below the belt all the time. //

Councilor johndramey, you have admirably summed up the sentiments of the exalted Clan Moklumnue. We look forward to the reasoned responses of our colleagues from the other factions. May Shalun save and guide our Alliance.

House Thulun will begin deliberations on Mokklumune's proposition anon. While there are many points we disagree on, something resembling a consensus must be met.

Apologies for my absence, been very busy in the mines. There are a few points that I don't really agree with in the proposal from johndramey but I find it to be acceptable for the most part. I believe my fellow Javetians would also agree.

ntsheep does your statement mean that you are deferring to the Thulun representatives' proposal or does Clan Javat plan to bring a counter to the table?

Yes Templar CdrPlatypus. If none of my fellow Javetians feel we should bring our own or contest certain parts of it, we will agree with it. I don't really like the dirt of politics. It's not as nice as the dirt from the ground that has all sorts of fun minerals. Unless it's something that interferes with mining I prefer to just go with the flow. You've all seen my small pick, don't make me get the big one out.

Honored members of the Alliance, I come before you this day with the unified voice of the House Thulun delegation. We will first discuss our Research Proposal: -Ship Con 2 -Fighters 1 -Faction Politics 3 -Space Colonization 1+2 I'm afraid johndramey's condition of waiting until after Faction Politics 3 will be unable to be met, concerning the timing of our first Fighter Class. We are already running a gambit by pushing the scouts beyond our borders, so as soon as Fighters 1 is completed, our starports will be instructed to immediately commence construction of a new and improved Fighter, utilizing the most advanced tech allowed by our newfound research. -If Thulun's wishes for caution will never be met, we feel our only recourse is to demand our own funds be spent in this undertaking. The costs incurred will be greatly offset by our colonies seldom if ever needing to subsidy a project. -If costs continue to be brought up in this manner, I would turn our associate's attention to the fact that their colonies will require bounds more credits than ours to get up to speed, and that shortly, our colonies will be the majority (however slight, we still do not have the actual numbers) source of income until Javat begins to catch up in terms of CP levels, and can create the vast mining complexes thay are so well known for. Even our newest colonies will be able to turn a profit before the others, as every project will be completed in record time, without the need to subsidy. Space Colonization will take much time to get off the ground, and is an unnecessary loss of tempo, in Thulun's opinion. Faction Politics must follow Fighters 1, so that upgraded Exchanges may be built, and Trade Alliances be formed. The amount of Credits needed for the complete replacement of a colony's Starport is staggering, and we will not have the Credits necessary to complete these projects if we do not get a handle on income early. Thulun lays no claim to the systems requested by Mokklumnue, and requests that the Systems named Saytek and Riverton be set aside for Thulun to colonize immediately. Javat may settle where they choose, so long as there are no disputes on the Systems already requested. If any other topic needs Thulun's voice, Commander CdrPlatypus, please do not hesitate to let us know.

To be clear, Thulun has conceded multiple points, both putting off our construction, and allowing scouting to continue. We have folded on nearly EVERY point, but are firm in our resolve that a Fighter MUST be constructed.
