I'm sitting here with an episode of TNG on and it suddenly hit me for a trade option when you meet friendly vessels. I don't see a thread for it- it would be just like the star port exchange screen, and you could either purchase or barter. From the docked ships. I think of it mainly as a ST2 idea but it might be a doable update here.
