..... Does this mean then that only some % of attacks have radiation associated with them? I don't think so. Attacks (by friendly ships) have Radiation associated with them when the ship has some sort of upgrade that confers a +X (Radiation type) Dmg bonus. For example, the bonuses conferred by the Pirate Crew upgrade (one of my favorites) include +10 Alpha Dmg and +10 Beta Dmg. ...Yet again another upgrade that I seem to have overlooked. But then what does this mean about crit? Does only the radiation part of the attack have an increased crit chance/multiplier? If it works like that...I could see that being balanced. If it modifies the entire attack...I would say Aliens OP in the beginning...but it seems balanced then. So for documentation purposes, can anyone tell me what the associated crit modifier is and whether it applies specifically to the radiation damage or the whole attack?

It does not increase the chance of a critical to occur.
Damage done by Radiation sources ARE counted towards critical multiplier.
If you do 100 damage normal and 50 damage radiation and a 100% critical ... you would do 300 damage total (150 base + 150 bonus critical damage.)

So basically you're saying the equation is... (base damage + rad. damage) * (crit. multi.) instead of (base * crit) + rad. damage. So, one more question, do ALL alien attacks have radiation damage associated with them? I.E. - does every attack that a Xeno ship makes have radiation damage in the equation? My guess is yes... and then, knowing that (or not) you've said that each Xeno has a certain type of radiation associated with them, any chance you could tell us which goes with which? :3

No depends on Xeno tech level and Xeno type.
