Is there a way to pick the Veterans that get deployed at the beginning of a new level.
I ask because I recruited three Scouts on power coupling level. Scout's MP buff allowed them to open (or blow up) all the circuit breakers quickly.
I'm about to do the mission where you board the Xeno vessel, it says I get 5 troops, and I'd prefer to take the captain, an engineer, a scout and two soldiers. Right now, based on the order on the Veterans screen, I suspect I'll end up with captain, soldier, engineer and two scout.
I guess I could dismiss two scouts then the fifth veteran would be the new soldier I just recruited. But I'd rather not dismiss the scouts as they leveled up on the previous mission and I could use them after I get to expand my squad.

I have a small question about this, actually. If we swap out our vets, and then discharge the auto-added low-level scout/soldier, will it lower our leaderboard score? I find myself wanting to swap in my Berserker for scouts, but am hesitant to do that because then I'll be stuck with a low level scout on my team dragging down the average level of my squad.

I'm enjoying the game, but think I'll play through once before thinking about leader boards.
Thanks for the info on swap.
I was a concerned about using SP, so I dismissed one of my level 3 Scouts, hoping to increase the chance of getting the newly recruited Soldier. I ended up with that high ranking dude, the Captain, a Scout and two Soldiers.
This leaves me with two questions,
1) How does the game choose which troops to deploy?
2) Is it generally alright to dismiss low level troops? Since you seem to be able to recruit new low-level troops inbetween levels, maybe there is no downside to dismissing troops of the lowest level.

tenbsmith - 1) Each map has a Templar configuration it requires (Captain, 2 Scouts, 1 Soldier, for example). This is map specific. The highest level Templars who fit those requirements are deployed. If a Templar is missing, a new Templar is recruited. 2) There is no upside or downside of dismissing low level Templars. It has no affect on the game, level of recruits, or level of monsters. You are potentially signing yourself up for more "leveling" work if you decide to re-recruit them later.
