Hi, i tried the game on my android phone. The idea is interesting but because of the imbalancing the game actually isnt really worth looking into it. I mean, im an experienced turn based games player, but when i cant beat mission 4 on the easiest difficulty after several trials, there something must be wrong. The game feels like trial and error. I use all the buffs and benefits of every knight at the maximum, but the game doesnt really care. 2 xenos can kill my captain in 1 turn, if the game wants it. Overwatch doesnt bring pretty much, since you often never know where the xenos will spawn and from wich direction they will come. It often happens that i displace the overwatch ability. And you never know if the next attack of the xeno does only 5 dmg or hurting 35 dmg. So calculation and tactic doesnt bring really much actually, because game mechanics are too luckbased for me. Wish you will think about it and make an update with better balancing or more health in the future, because trying missions several times until i got lucky in a turn based tactical game doesnt make fun. Save option while on misson would also be nice, maybe only at the easiest difficulty for the learning phase, because nobody wants to repeat a misson only because of a mistake done in the late game. Gz

Gz stealthy, check out both of these: I think the game is a lot of fun and requires good tactics.

That's very interesting feedback. I wonder why you are seeing so much randomness in the game that other players are not?
I would love to help figure out why you're struggling with the fourth level. About 3% of players take more than 3 tries to beat that level -- I'd love to figure out why!
The Overwatch feedback is especially surprising! Is there anything further you can share?

Try not to get discouraged to much. You can tell where the enemy will most likely come from in most cases. You have to watch for the patterns. By level 4 I assume you mean Alien Vessel Counter Attack. Setting up the Overwatch boxes in front of the pillars on both sides of the door will help delay and kill most of the xenos. When turn 6 comes and the door opens, everyone will be in range to either shoot the Goliath or move up and attack him with their swords. I myself am a gamer of over 30+ years of experience. This game has challenged even me. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, ego gets you nowhere in a game. Never let yourself think that because you can't beat it, there must be a problem with it. I've had plenty of times I thought that a game must be broken somehow because I couldn't beat a level and then someone else did it and made me look like a fool when I would realize how simple the solutions was or that I just need to get it out of my head that the level was unbeatable. There was a level in Armored Core 4 that I tried about 20 times and couldn't beat it. My cousin played it once and beat it. I was shocked. After seeing him beat and realizing it could be done, I beat it the next time I played it. It was all in my head that I couldn't because I let my ego get in the way and had myself convinced that since I was a master gamer, the game itself was wrong because I had trouble.

Greetings, stealthy! As others have popped in to say, keep at it! BF, while it can be infuriating at times, is far from luck-based. I guess you could make an argument saying that damages and defenses are rolled, and as such add an element of randomness to the game, but you can still "game" the system if you know how to do it. BF is, at its dark and iron-cold heart, a slow-paced game. If you try to play it quickly without the experience of years of TB game experience, you'll probably find yourself utterly destroyed, scratching your head, and possibly even throwing your phone out the window. I can give you a couple tips that will, hopefully, help you enjoy the game a bit. 1) Fog of war DOES NOT regrow. It will gray out a bit, but you will still be able to see enemy movement through it. Think of it this way, your Templar's Leviathan suit (or your scout's ability) drops itty bitty sensor drones everywhere that constantly update you, the commander. Use this to your advantage! If you are advancing into unknown territory and are worried about being wiped out by the xeno, take 4 steps forward and two steps back. Or, even better, save up 2 AP on your scout so (s)he can open up some fog where you think xeno just might be lurking. This will allow you to have a better idea of where the xeno are coming from at the least, and possibly even kill them before they get close at best! 2) Overwatch, overwatch, overwatch! Xeno are not, by nature, very bright. They'll pretty much make a beeline for the nearest Templar. As such, position your beefiest dude(ette) near them, preferably 3 spaces away, and have your soldier overwatch the area between the xeno and your beefcake. Overwatch will, 9 times out of 10, kill the first xeno that passes through it, and if it doesn't kill the xeno it will usually disrupt its movement enough that it won't reach your lines. 3) Pain = death. As you've learned, the xeno hit hard enough that even skitterings can wreck you. Treat each xeno as if it could kill every Templar in your squad. Until you've got some real heavy hitters in your squad (and really, even then), it's not a good idea to think of a xeno whacking on you as an acceptable thing. I'm not sure if you played Templar Assault, but if you didn't you might consider downloading the free version and trying it. It's older and way different from BF, but it trains you well in that regard. In TA, the Xeno could literally kill your Templar with a single hit. I absolutely love BF and could go on and on, but will leave it at those 3 basic tips. If you have more questions, want some more help, or just want to vent some more, please post. We'll all try to help you out.

Always a pleasure, boss. I can't say it enough, but BF is so absurdly perfect that I have forgotten TA even exists. It hits all of the buttons just perfectly!

We're getting scores like 4.5/5.0 and 9/10 from big review sites this week. Pretty happy with that! =)

Gz Gaaaa, I don't do niceties or beat around the bush. This is such bollocks. I really am an "experienced" turn-based gamer, having conquered everything from Civ 2 to XCom: Enemy Within. I've even gone through the often tough battles in games like Omerta: City of Gangsters, and Fallout 1,2 & Tactics, even doing Fallout 2 as a solo PC without a party. Battleforce is not hard on the easier levels, and it's perfectly straightforward - to an experienced turn based player - where to deploy overwatch / turrets. And if your Templars are getting killed by Xeno every time, you're letting them get too close. My Captain is 85% melee focused, and on Demanding difficulty, he's never in danger, knowing exactly when to strike and wipe out the opposition being backed up by ranged party members is essential. Just play better. It's not the game which is unbalanced, it's your "experience" and play style.

Not to mention if you have XCOM experience you should know part of the game is building and planning for worst case senario luck, but hoping for the best. A common XCOM meme is 98% chance to miss. Like when your assult solider misses a point blank shotgun attack. Unlikely, but possible and when it happens it's painful. Just like a fumble in the super bowl or the opposing team hitting the fabled grand slam in the world series. Shit happens. Randomness is part of the battlefield.

Hi and thanks for response. Guides are nice if i really need them, but first i always try to figure out a game on my own. I shouted too quick with my first post here. Actually im done with the easy mode and starting a new game on normal difficulty. I now only would wish to have also the possibility for resetting RP's to try what fits best for me, but i know you wont do that because of the replayability.

Great work. Enjoy Normal, and if you want there are all sorts of nastier Difficulties waiting. We are not planning to add an RQ reset button. There is a New Game+ option so you can take your victorious squad through the campaign again and eventually unlock th eentire tree. Definitely use Respec tho, that will help you enjoy everything in the RQ tree that you've unlocked. We hope you'll leave a review on the game!

stealthy welcome to the forums and glad you gave BF another chance. The Requesition tree can be a bit daunting at first glance but you can click on any of them and check details so you can work on planning where to spend your RP. Also it may be helpful to look at your Veterans and see what Talents or Equipment will be needed in short term to keep them progressing. No point spending RP opening up a higher level Talent for say your Scouts Overdrive that they can't use currently when your Soldiers Overwatch is already maxed out and you really want to add that with current level-up. Same with gear, spending RP to get access to gear one Templar can't use yet due to lack of Gear Lvl when another Templar has unused Allocations is probably not best move. Overall just try coming up with a planned strategy for your squad then try being efficient with your RP to make that planning work out for you.
