I like and use both these talents regularly to give my Templars the extra MP.
Just curious what others think about the balance for these Talents.
Personally I think at least with lower levels Rallying Charge gives a bit more bang for the buck so to speak as it has greater range and can affect up to the Templars Tactics rating (max of 9)
Pressing need on other hand can only affect a single Templar and they must be adjacent to the Captain meaning careful manuevering is required and at times I'll be left just out of position.
Seems like as the Squad commander the Captain should have more buffs with range on them that can affect multiple Templars. While the soldier would just be the gung-ho guy that maybe inspires his nearest comrades on occasion with his heroics.
As I said at start I like and use both Talents quite often and am just looking for others thoughts on them, the game balance for them and how fitting you think they are to the respective Templars.

WOW... this whole time I thought Pressing Need was self buff only... I always take Pressing Need on my captain because she is a speed demon. If I ever ran a captain that wasn't speed focused then I could see myself passing on it.
I can't imagine taking a soldier without Rallying Charge. It makes your whole team faster, and a faster team is usually safer and will get you more bonus rp/xp.

WOW... this whole time I thought Pressing Need was self buff only... I kinda feel the same way So does that mean a change to Pressing Need might be in the works for future? The Captain has Warriors Wrath which is a self buff, fact that all 3 buffs can be stacked on my Captain lets him hit 10 mp at a fairly early stage of game with the Swift Kit gear so love them.

I keep one point in Pressing Need and use it on my Captain a lot. I also use it on others when then need calls for it. Just one extra MP can make a huge difference most of the time. Rallying Charge I never take above level 4. I feel the negative effects are just too much trouble to make it worth it. Now perhaps later in the game when you can use some of the better armors or have an Engineer with Power Field to counteract the effects it might be useful. With new heat rules, too much speed is going to be a neat problem to have to face and work around. The best thing about the game I like right now is that there's a really good balance between weapons, armor, and gear, and what Talents they work with best. For example, Soldiers that I equip with regular guns have Burst Fire leveled up as their main attack. If I equip them with plasma rifles, I Respec to use Shredding Fire. This gives a big boost to damage and even with the shorten range, pretty much nothing gets through. Most xenos are gone in one hit.

Another thing to consider. Pressing need can be casted while overheated. Rallying cannot

Just one extra MP can make a huge difference ... getting to the TP to Capture ... getting into range for the OW ... getting into range for that last Grenade toss ... it can make a HUGE difference in tight battles.

Swift Kits, Boosted Reactors, anything that can give MP can sometimes be the biggest influence on beating a level a few turns quicker. Faster time, better bonus. Better bonus, quicker level up. Quicker level up, better weapons, gear, and Talents. All this adds up to more dead xenos. It's the perfect pyramid scam

I feel like most of the non heat restricted Talents are the user's leadership skills/willpower/Lineage memories working to make them better on the battlefield.
