Hi, hope I'm not asking to much here. I've searched the threads and can't find anyone else with this issue so I guess it's something I'm doing wrong.
I've tried for rapid rank 1 and quick contracts 1 and 2 for a few unlocks. I completed rank 3 and 5 contracts on hard mode well before the deadlines given to achieve the unlocks and neither were unlocked. I'm unsure of its because I am on free version maybe? I turned down\failed no contracts just grabbed multiples to complete faster. Maybe I'm missing something here. Thanks in advance.
Also I've noticed most people playing as gun bunnies, yet I seem to find quick boarding with large crews very effective, with minimal damage not counting crew loss but I'm on lower difficulties than most. I'm curious to how viable of a strategy this is late game, as well as in harder difficulties.

Hi SqueekS and welcome to the forum! You came to the right place for advice on all things Star Trader Question on Rapid Rank and Quick Contracts ... as soon as you reach the required thing (be it a military rank with a faction or the number of completed contracts within a certain time, did you record your achievements with the hall of records? You need to get to the nearest planet, jump into the Palace, and then go to the hall of records where you can record your exploits. For the time-based challenges, you need to visit the Hall of Records within the timeframe allotted. If you miss the timeframe, even if you really did achieve the task within the timeframe, the game says "too late" and makes you have to try again I'm a gun bunny who has never spent much time with the boarding approach, but from many who play within the forum, the recommendation is that if you beef up your strength and warrior skills, Boarding is a very very effective approach, even into the late-game. We could create a community challenge to see who can survive the most hostile encounters by boarding alone ... the usual approach with such challenges is that the hard version is "Crazy" difficulty, while normal challenge is at "demanding". It could be a good challenge although as I said, I'm pretty much a novice at such an approach and would get my butt wiped with some other forumites

Thanks a ton! Got them unlocked thanks to you:) Found a small error in the game though:( Unlock for Picky Beggar ship in awards says nothing about being elite edition to use but when I try to pick the ship starting a new captain it says elite edition only. Should I make a post in the big thread about this? I was looking forward to starting a higher difficulty with a better ship:(

Most of the starting ships are Elite only. I'll work on updating the text to say that.

We try to keep it simple and keep the free version free. We've got to pay for the development and updates, so there has to be something to encourage people to upgrade to Elite =)

I find it very funny that a new member named SqueekS was quickly helped by a cat that claims to be a bunny. He must have thought you were a mouse. You're in good hands though as the resident feline is one of the top players of the game. If your on Free, try to get Elite ASAP. It's worth it. Stick with the low difficulty levels until you get grasp of the games rules. Then you'll have no trouble with ones like Crazy and Impossible. The learning curve is a bit steep, but once you've mastered it, then the real fun begins. A good way of making quick credits is a few points in Explorer. There are a few planets that are fairly easy to finds things on. Ugolhush at -10, 9. Tucanae-Javet Mining at -2,-5. Zat Ogotthara at -1, -3. These are great places to search and make a quick buck for upgrades and even new ships.

The learning curve is a bit steep, but once you've mastered it, then the real fun begins... Or you could do what I did when I first started out and go straight to Insane difficulty. That way you will always know when your strategy is bad because, well, you'll die. Learning is painful.

Does elite version have a banking system somewhere? Star Traders RPG doesn't support any bank system, no.
