slayernz : Sure, it's a bit excessive to have that much rep, but maybe he/she/it REALLY hates Los V. Like, "They pushed me off the swings when I was a kid" borderline serial-killer hate. I kinda did the same working for the Streets-- I wanted to boost my FN rep, but with Heat and distance I just stuck with the Streets. And good Lord, do the LV hate my butt now... (-600 plus on Brutal, and I still won't enter corpland without shivering a little) Thaaaaaaaaaaaat's exactly how my attitude with Steel Song started up. They pushed me from the swings too - if by swings, I mean my new star ship, that I had spent time learning how to fly, and by pushing, I mean attacking me in pirate ships. I thought I could get over it. I thought I could be the bigger man. Then I remembered I was a cat, and realized there was no going back. Steel Song must die. Die die die die die die die. It's a very healthy passion ... die Steel Song die. Die. Maybe it isn't so healthy ... That's where my rage against LV comes from. I always struggle SO HARD and so long to work through their crappy little contracters to get walled by some random idiot in the wrong territory thinking he'd one up me for a quick buck... >.> That's why I spend so much time using the LV as my punching bag in CyberKnights... In ST, it's typically DeValtos that pulls out the asshat card and decides to attack me for getting close to a Trade Permit. >_< I get a special little thrill slaughtering their military up close.

Are you sure it wasn't "The Incident" that made you hate De Valtos and a certain fluffy Zealot of there's Officer Genious

In CK, I always find time to hurt LV ... you're right, you don't typically cheat on Fenn because they helped you when you started, but the only antagonist you had was LV, and so when you go surface-side, they continue to get your attention

Hey guys, I'm back! I've been away for a couple years, doing this and that, but I'm back to playing CK!
Getting back to the original question in this thread:
I've just tested several times. When you get out of the tunnels, your Reputation with LosV and Streets are reset to 0 (zero), and your reputation with Fennians is reset to 25 (twenty-five). BUT, your Global Heat is not changed! I checked repeatedly; Global Heat does not get reset when you exit the tunnels.
I have developed a trick to get around that. Heat in the tunnels doesn't bother me much, even on Brutal. So when I get the new 2-job computer during the second mission for X, I don't immediately switch computers. I continue to use the 1-job computer for the rest of my time in the tunnels. When I get back to the NBZ and my reputation is reset, I switch to the 2-job computer. Switching computers immediately resets Global Heat to 0 (zero)!

That's correct -- Global Heat doesn't reset when you exit the Tunnels. Changing your Computer resets your cryptochip and means that Factions cannot identify you with scanners. That resets your Global Heat.

I should emphasize how much I don't worry about heat in the tunnels of MNB. The amount of heat each mission and encounter generates is scaled by difficulty; in Brutal mode, you can rack up heat really fast. Since I know my reputation will be reset when I leave the tunnel, I don't worry about angering Streets and LosV. In every encounter in the tunnels, I rob my victims of everything they carry, every time. I even deliberately face encounters rather than sneak away, just for another opportunity to pick up XP and loot. By the time I graduate from the tunnels, I sometimes have a Global Heat over 200. I don't think I've ever hit 300, though. Then, I'm standing on the docks in the Old Waterfront. I plug in my fresh 2-job computer, and Poof! All the Global Heat is gone. Of course, I can't be as cavalier about looting and generating heat after that, on Brutal . . .

yeah but that's not different than how the mechanic works in any other scenario.

It's your heat with Los V and Streets that blows off, i.e. heat you get because they hate you. The heat you get for 'i decided that sleeping was overrated so I just pop another stim', should you decide to play that way, will follow you to the NBZ. Sleeping in a few hotels will handle that, but you have to remember to do it before you decide to take a mission.

That question has been answered multiple times over Yes, the Heat from the tunnels burns off on the way to the NBZ. Wrong. The reason I posted is because the answers that had been posted previously were incorrect. Your Reputation gets reset, but Global Heat does NOT get reset when you leave the tunnels.

yeah but that's not different than how the mechanic works in any other scenario. I know it's no different, but it's cool to see 230 points of Global Heat go *poof* when I plug in a new cyber knight computer.
