I have no idea what you mean by this. When a xeno tries to enter an OW square targeted by a Templar the xeno pauses and I see & hear the shot, but no damage is shown, so I assume a miss. Sometimes the first xeno thru the OW are walks straight in without the Templar showing any shot animation, at least on Ironman. I'm guessing there is a formula for the various dice rolls starting with does the Templar on OW take the shot. I'm just curious about the mechanics. You should check out the Steam guide and the YouTube video referenced in this thread ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqHNLW8vLKgsteamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=569307048The mechanics are described in full detail.

Okay, I'll watch more carefully, maybe I'm dropping the shooting animation. If I see (well, don't see) it again, I'll write it up in a bug report.

Yeah, if you have any issues make a post and we'll explain what's happening. Because OW, as explained in the guide, uses tiles to mark OW you can definitely have tiles cleared of OW. The guide goes into when the targeting occurs, which can (intentionally) leave some AI-uncertainty about which tile was being targeted by the move sub-routine. As always, we're here to try to help players understand the game as best as we can.

As always, we're here to try to help players understand the game as best as we can. Checked two "anomalies" last night and reviewed the screenshots. It appears that part of what I've seen is xenos entering the OW from the outside, getting shot before it enters, stops without moving in and the next one pulls up in a "clean OW" square right beside it and doesn't get shot, which it shouldn't because that's not an actual OW square, but in the middle of playing a firefight out I think WTH?, why no shot? Starting in a OW square does not clear that specific square, yes? Not spawning in it, beginning the xeno turn already in one.

Correct, beginning in a tile doesn't clear the OW. You can OW a 3x3 section, hitting all tiles, even if it contains Xeno at the start of the enemy turn.
