I play at the demanding level and I have lost 6 captains to aliens. The aliens usually show at levels 30 - 46. The first 2 aliens I have encountered were levels 462?? or somewhere thereabouts. The next 4 deaths were due to Narvidians at twice my level. By the way, demanding says that your opponents are 85 % of your level. I usually meet opposing captains that are 2 to 4 levels higher than my positions which means sure death, especially at the early stages

If you want a good way to get revenge on the aliens, try Templar Assault!

If you want a good way to get revenge on the aliens, try Templar Assault! I love it when I repaint the walls with them. Now, if only they'll squeal like gutted pigs. ;D Oh, and to expand on blackudder's answer in direct relations to Slide's questions: 1) Yes, by chance encounter when playing at higher difficulties. 2) I don't see the difference really. But chances of survival in a fight against aliens seems higher. 3) Yes, by playing Impossible. 4) Yes, they are. They're the Merchant equivalent of Alien ships. They're totally random. With full upgrades to your armor and hull, they should be easy pickings. ;D

The last hulk I took out has 900+ Artifacts on it. Unfortunatly I could only carry 160 but with a shortage that was still about 800,000 credits
ps: they do count as aliens in all regards for the use of the veteran, rumors, and alien fighting techologies

If only we could switch ships with Aliens.
For that kind of cargo space, I'd assimilate my captain's ass into the Hulk!

Let's hope we can get alien ships soon. Of course, at impossible difficulty muuuaah. ;D
Pirating is soooo much fun, but I wonder:
Anyone know a trader/star trader that has survived at impossible level for any significant amount of time? Cause Id like to pick your brain.

With enough Stealth, it's definitely possible to survive... for a while... until the aliens pick THEIR brains.

So ran into my first absolutely cool looking alien ship.
Kinda disappointing... they died sooo easy. I've had better fights from Sword Class ships.
Oh well 250k in the bank. ;D
Did I mention they died easy?

Since it's easy, maybe weak? Or ridiculously lucky streak of die rolls.

Anything with a blood red lobster ship should be tough! It was a very cool design.

Er... that's one of the weak ones. The squid lookalike is one of the tougher ones.
