Here's an easy way to grind out an insane amount of credits with minimal effort. Start at [-7,1] Cadar Capital City Buy as much spice as your ship can carry. Fly 4AU to the north to [-8,-3] Kalflange Outpost and sell all your spice. Profit, repeat. The small distance means low water fuel investments and less of a chance getting picked off by pesky pirates. The only problem is that, late game when you have a large cargo hold, you can easily drain Cadar Capital of spice in 1 or 2 trips, leaving you to find something else to do until the market resets. This is a really cheap way to play the game, but if you need credits fast and at low risk, this is the best way I've found so far. Also, if someone else has found this and posted it already.... sorry!

I've done this before. I've forgotten about this particular route though, so thanks for the reminder.

Would be very sad indeed if a guy named Atlas didn't know how to map out a route.

Would be very sad indeed if a guy named Atlas didn't know how to map out a route. I'm usually too busy holding the heavens up to actually go about mapping them, but I sometimes get a chance between shrugs.

Damn! There's an anchor on this thread. I thought it was helpful. Just a few little jokes here.

There are a dozen short trade routes. This thread describes it like it is some kind of special exploit or something. The OP oversimplifies the end game impact of running short hop Spice Trades like this. It's not a good strategy for a number of reasons. Exercise left to the reader

Well I kinda think that makes sense. I've found lots of little trades routes where something can be bought cheap and sold at another planet not more than 10 AU away.

What make a trade route good: -It should be 2-way: buy something at X > sell at Y; buy at Y > sell at X -It should high profit. At least $20/AU/unit of goods. Or $100 profit per unit for a 5AU run. -It should involve restricted goods, so you can gain some reputation while trading. -The planets should have high Economy so one does not run out of goods to trade. -Relatively low Security and Palace so the exchange is faster. -Both planets should have backup trading partners available that fullfill some if not all the above criteria.
If someone knows of a trade route better than Syndicate Capital-Steel Fortress, please share. They are 4AU apart, SC pays the most for Electronics and SF pays the most for Artifacts. SC also supplies Crystals and Metals while SF supplies Clothing and Spice when there are no restricted goods to sell, which is rare in SC, whose economy is fantastic.
Maybe there is some route on the Elite map that matches it, but i haven't found, because electronics prices are pretty low on the bottom right of the quadrant. Perhaps a Spice for Artifacts route?
