Several days ago while preparing to answer part of MintDragon 's question in the 4X Empires - Comprehensive Guide thread, and I seemed to remember that players got more starting techs in games started at lower difficulty levels. It'd been a long time since I'd played on any level other than Hard, so I started a game on the Tutorial map and poked around for a bit to see if my memory was correct (it was not).
When I finished and exited the Tutorial, I decided to delete this Tutorial game before resuming my then current game. So I selected the Tutorial game, tapped the Delete button, and tapped the Yes button to confirm. The screen refreshed, but the Tutorial game still appeared to be there at the top of the list.
Huh, I thought; must have hit the No button by mistake. So I tried to delete it again, making certain to hit the Yes button. Same result; the Tutorial Game was still there at the top of the list. So then I went on (bone head that I am) to repeat the same sequence of steps at least a half dozen more times with the same result every time (sounds suspiciously like a definition of insanity, commonly attributed to Einstein, doesn't it?).
So I said to Hell with it, I'll just leave it there and get back to my (then) current game on The Garden map. That's when I discovered that (although there was still a Tutorial game at the top of the list) MY THEN CURRENT GAME AND ALL MY RECENT COMPLETED GAMES WERE GONE!
I backed out to the Welcome screen and hit the Play button. Back again at the SAVED GAME screen, the Tutorial game was now finally gone, as were all my good saved games that I'd accidentally deleted. If I'd have been double-jointed enough that I could kick myself in the ass, I still wouldn't be able to sit down now (4 days later).
Anyway, all my games worth saving being already gone, I tinkered around starting and deleting games to see how I'd gotten so confused. I quickly figured it out and saved some screenshots to illustrate the problem. Here's the deal:
In the screen above there's a Tutorial game on the 26 world map at Turn 1 that I want to delete at the top of the list, with a regular game on a 44 world Rim map below it.
I tap Delete, then Yes to confirm and the screen refreshes which brings me to this next shot:
At first glance, it appears that the Tutorial game is still there at the top of the list. It still shows the Tutorial icon and "Tutorial (26 Worlds)" map. Actually that Tutorial game has been deleted and the display is just scrambled, showing a mix of correct and incorrect info. If you look closer you'll see that the Game Date, turn-count and Played date have all changed, and now match those of the 44 world Rim map game that was second on the list in the first screenshot. So this time, instead of attempting to delete the Tutorial game again, I tap the Back button to go back to the Welcome screen, then tap the Play button to return to the SAVED GAME screen and take this next screenshot:
As you can see, the phantom Tutorial game is now gone, and the screen has unscrambled itself, showing at the top of the list the 44 Worlds map game at Turn 739, correctly labeled for what it is.
This may be a device dependent problem. I'm using a Google Nexus 7 (2013), running Android 6.0.1
