If we're going to add more Upgrades, we'll probably need more Awards.
Again, I cannot re-write the core ST RPG engine to support crazy new ideas -- but you're welcome to post them for consideration in ST or ST2, no matter how outlandish.
What I'm really looking for here are things your Captains have done that you'd like commemorated in the Halls of Records.
I've been thinking about adding some more exploration type Awards like Birthright.
I'd love to hear about your ideas!

How about destroying 300 ships from one faction? I know slayernz wouldn't need much time to think about which faction he would attack. A possible exploration award requirement could be to land on every planet.
ntsheep Only ten? Seems pretty easy to me.

along with Faction Benefactor the play should end x number of shortages and supplies with a certain faction.
How about a merchant of x, where the play has to exclusively trade only that item with xxx (~1000) number of units
How master of delivery, xx(~100) item/people delivered.

resistor just depends on how the game goes really. I played ones where it was years before I came across a shortage. Mind you I wasn't looking for them. A lot of the game awards are fairly easy to get. Cory once said he could get them all unlocked in just under 5 hours of playtime.

I like slayernz's and xdesperado's ideas, those seem doable, interesting, and like they would push the player into one or more professions.
How about item specific trade awards, things like:
Bartender of the stars = Captain sells X vudka Solar spiritualist = Captain sells x plants Super slinger = Captain sells x spice Interstellar industrialist = Captain sells x metal Galactic Gaddafi = Captain sells x weapons Narvidian whisperer = Captain sells x artifacts FTL Fashionista = Captain sells x clothes Ballistic Bond = Captain sells x records Extrasolar Business Machine = Captain sells x electronics etc. etc.
As a reward, each award could give a captain access to upgrades that store an additional X of the good they sold or a y% discount or something, maybe have a final award like
Universal Monopoly = Captain sells x of each commodity
And that award could give starting captains a boost of $Y at the start of the game?

Exploration based rewards would also be fun, how about something like
Novice/Professional/Expert/Master Explorer = Captain recovers x/y/z/t units of cargo while exploring Novice/Professional/Expert/Master Harvester = Captain recovers x/y/z/t units of cargo while exploring
You can even think of fun names for the awards, rather than just what I wrote. Like
Galactic Galileo / Mega Magellan / Cosmic Colombus / etc.

What do you think of adding more exploration Awards, like "Find the Deamon Nebula" type stuff?
Are those too hard?

I'm down with that kind of stuff, Cory. Those are definitely fun, and add a little extra surprise in the game. One of the few awards that you can't really plan for.
