I can't seem to find any way to come back from a negative income in this situation. It's ruined a couple of games for me that I've spent tons of time on. Is there any way to get out of the negative income spiral?

To prevent bad politics from happening, try distributing planets and ships among the factions relatively evenly. If one faction has a big advantage over another, it might want to crush one of its rivals. Also, there are treaties that you can get from tech tree research that can end specific bad conflicts. We're talking about ST4X, right? It has its own subforum, you know

When you have these conflicts and negative Credits, you can still buy Treaties to stop them.
Just because you're out of money doesn't mean your political operatives stop working.
They will also eventually run out of steam and go away, usually in less than a year.

Hi gob , Welcome to the Forums! If you haven't seen it already, check out tenbsmith 's 4x Faction Politics Guide (draft). Though still a work in progress, it's packed with all sorts of priceless information and helpful tips on ST 4X politics. And he's adding to it all the time.

gob, Politics is a bit tricky until you get the hang of it. The guide can help. It can be tempting to based you economy primarily on Trade Points from Exchanges and other sources, building few mines. This is a mistake; income from mines is not affected by negative politics, so they provide a protection against income going highly negative. If you want to post more detail about a specific game
