Any chance that there could be an attack for the sentry turrets that causes them to self destruct, maybe causing AOE damage for 1-2 squares around it? I think an attack like this would have several uses. First, when a turret is swarmed by Xeno and heavily damaged, it can give one last ditch attack to help protect those squishy Tact Points. Second, it could get rid of turrets which may have been hastily placed and are not tactically relevant anymore.
If this kind of attack for them is not possible, than could an Engineer take one down and use it somewhere else? I could envision this being done by using the Sentry turret attack on an existing turret.
Either of these would be very helpful. Thanks for making such an epic game!

I believe this has been discussed before, and Cory said there would be no self destructing units in Battleforce. It simply is not the way of the Templar Knights.

@robmc - thanks for the post. As Brutus Aurelius mentioned, we have discussed but decided not to add self-destruct Talents to the game for Templars or Sentry Turrets. It is most important that we stay true to the lore of the Templars, and considering the important of Lineages and their love of their old technology, it doesn't fit. Welcome to the forum!

Absolutely stay true to the lore! You have an awesome universe here, and I wouldn't want that compromised in any way. I was thinking, being they are machines not people (then again, are they manned or autonomous?) the Templars would be more willing to detonate them in much the same way they detonate Titan bombs.
What about the idea of an Engineer taking one down and setting it up somewhere else? Is that even possible with the engine? Would that throw off the game balance?
Thanks again for the response and for making such an awesome game!

@robmc - the Templars value their equipment, and especially that which was built before the Exodus. After leaving the old worlds of the Galactic Core, you can see in many games (Star Traders, 4X Empires, Templar Battleforce) that the manufacturing capabilities of the Factions and the Templars both are grealy weakened. All equpiment is too valuable to self-destruct. Titan bombs are built to detonate, but they are used only when absolutely needed. The Templar Engineering core leans on their Lineages and therefore is the ultimate engineering core, so that is not to say that they aren't able to build more. But if you look at BF, 1 of 2 Templar ships survived, and they are stretched very thin in their work.
If at all possible, any Turret deployed during a battle is recovered later. The Turrets are controlled by their deploying Engineer, they are not autonomous. When a Templar Engineer leaves the control range, they would give a final order to "turtle up" and the Turret will close down and close in its armor. In some cases, this means that turrets can be recovered years later, repaired, and put back into use.
The undeployment and redeployment process is too much to try to add to the game, and would understandably take hours.
