I LOVE this game!
Torps- faction matched best. Does this mean marching my faction our the faction flag of the ship I'm currently in? Ex. I'm a Javat but steal a DV ship...
Patrol- I KNOW I'm under using this so any pointers are great. I do understand Stealth plays a role. My captain's are not usually beyond 10-12 stealth as I favor military skills Patrol vs. Random encouter - my low stealth may explain this, but I get more results when I'm seeking encounters (xeno hunting prime ex.) By flying over the rumor dot repeatedly than by patrolling it.
Navy/ pirate fleet rumors - I may just play around and see, but my question is is there any real benefit to a MO to hunt these down with no conflict ongoing? Can I be racking up XP in combat heavy sector?
Balancing factions- ok, Corey himself recommends the 3/3 rule, friends/enemies. I've seemed to have luck keeping all positive, permit and rank 1 min. I re-buy permit and rank after war. My home team ranks way up, and based on advice here I've started going for rank 12 with the 2 allies. I just learned that warrant affects spy war returns lol so I have to work that in yet. I'm starting to think this is fine up to some point in mid-game, but after that am I better blasting my 3 enemies for the extra XP in between conflicts? In terms of XP vs. Clock. Again, a huge thank you to the community. I've had so much more fun in game after learning so much here!
Time to try a Crazy run!

Patrol -- with Patrol, Stealth increases encounter rates and gives you better encounters. Low Stealth could generate a higher rate of encounters during map moment than Patrol, but you are more likely to roll negative encounters.
Fleet Rumors -- depends on the Conflicts in play. A Pirates Rumor is the best place for a MO or BH to be during a Trade War, for example.
Balancing Factions -- harder to do on higher difficulties, easier to do on lower ones. Playing with all Positive is a strategy the game supports, it just takes more work to run a Reputation-profitable routine. This is a common enough play style that there are Awards to honor it.

Thanks Andrew and Corey! You guys rock! Most fun I've had in years gaming. I hope it doesn't seem as though I'm spamming with all my posts. I played a bit just reading here and employing strategies, now I'm at that point where I'm in deep and want the whole experience. Thus the floodgates have opened, questions and observations may flow lol Still amazed as devs you bros appear here personally. Not just some fluff general thread but real interaction and answers. Thank you, it means the world as a gamer.
So, did you mean to miss my torp question? I LOVE the subtlety of Stealth and trying to balance it. So many things to think about with each XP lol Thanks for the tip on leveraging those fleet rumors! This go (3rd try Crazy MO) I've had a blast with my faction ally/enemy. Early I was of low regard rep but rank and permit with all to get going. Conflicts really saved my butt from early blunders, managed to get a Jango One ( neat ship, first time used) and it was no more Mr. Nice Guy lol Funniest is due to overlap in conflicts I'm +565 with DV one of my "enemies". It's around 230 AE and I've got a million cred custom make mauler and about to hit base (well in a few Solar War years) to design my first try at an ultimate spy ship. Hoping to keep this guy alive long enough to create a Xeno Seeker. :-) Should I try to contain further questions to this thread?
Thank you! Jason

capthawk As far as I know every torpedo in your craft has it's origin attached which affects its Accuracy and Damage. Buying from military bases from Factions with the same Flag as your ship are the best. (not sure if these are better or the same as looting from a ship with the same flag) Buying From military bases from different Flags are next best. (not sure about Indy bases) Looting from different flagged ships are next worst. Looting from indy ships are the worst. Reveals a few gaps in my knowledge, Do Indy flagged ships get the same Quality from indy military bases as a Faction Flag from a Faction base?? Where's slayernz when you need him?

I had spammed capthawk early on so thought it'd probably be better if he gets answers from a different source from time to time Indy torps are not nearly as good as faction torps. Also, fringe faction planets vs core faction planets make a difference (I forget which one is better). Looting from ships used to be pretty good but people discovered that so long as they re-armed after attacking, they could get an unlimited supply of torps. So Cory nerfed the torps gained from encounters, and also reduced the chance that you'll actually find usable torps. After all, tea-pot launchers are a very specific sort of design.

Torps match Ship Faction, not Crew Faction. So you can have a De Valtos Crew on a Thulun Ship but the best Torp dice come from Thulun ships. Looted torpedoes are less effective overall.

Thank you very much gents! Ive been sticking to home grown torps and loving the noticeable improvement. One follow up on torps: say if you have 10 of 16 left from home and buy or loot 6 for whatever reason. Are your whole 16 torps now corrupt? Next question: how do I tag someone or multiple people in a response?
Oh and slayernz, and whoever else it's NOT spamming! Please don't hold back, you guys know so much more and I'm learning so much and having more fun in game after every time I visit here with questions.
