1. There's three types of Templar Officers, can I have more than one at a time?
2. Curious if there's an in universe reason ship builder costs as much as it does? For example, a Javilin pre-built is around 350k, but if you put the same specs in builder it's over 700k ( minimum, I checked all my home ports for best price as it varies like ship costs do).
*Note on ExoScout- looking over the officer bonus list again recently I saw he has the ability to hide one contract at a time. I'd missed that and wanted to share in case others had, gives him a little more versatility.

Previous post i read leads me to believe that all the ships you see in the Quadrant now are left overs from the "diaspora" and a lot of the technology and ability to create them was lost or crippled.
Only a small amount of Ship builders remain to resurrect the skillsets and create new varients from the existing supply.
An ever shrinking supply.
As you would expect, they do not share their skills or supplies cheaply. Makes me think that the ship builders and the salvage guilds have a racket going on.
Salvage Guild : "yeah we'll give you $1800 for that wrecked ship"
Shipbuilders : "yeah $1.2 million will about do it"

The costs are so high because most of the ships are indeed relics almost 500+ years old. Building a new one means either building one from scratch or gutting an old one and putting it back together. Both are extremely difficult, as according to Cory Trese the Factions barely understand Void Reactor tech.

Regardless higher rank and negotiate can help drastically reduce the cost of any ship especially on the major core worlds.
As far as officers I'm pretty sure you can only have 1 Templar at a time.

beverage lol so true! Also, Used Ship Dealer: sell it? 1500. Trade it? 45k. @brutusaurelis that makes a lot of sense and sticks with the ST universe story. Thanks! xdesperado thanks, I had noticed different costs at different planets too, similar to how a flagship can be anywhere from 350k to over a million. I doubt you can have more than one Templar too, but maybe I'll experiment on one of my surviving lower difficulty Capt.

You could probably get more than one Templar officer, but it isn't a good idea from a balance standpoint, you won't get duplicate bonuses where they overlap. For example, in terms of Boarding bonuses, you'd only get the highest one from any of the Templar Officers.

Interesting, seems like when I've tried to get a second Templar type chasing rumors the game wouldn't let me hire them. Been a while so my memory may be fuzzy. Figured you'd coded it so only one could be hired at a time. Question about lore Cory TreseHow do the Templar officers we get in ST fit into things since BF makes them seem a bit insular and ready to stomp hard on anyone that is likely to deal in artifacts? In ST I can buy and sell artifacts regularly and do exploration to find them while having a Templar which seems counter to their nature. Are the officers some sort of outcasts or special agents or what?

Interesting question. They're on whatever Templar mission, so your Captain must be important.
Blocking the trade of Artifacts would be a VERY interesting rule change for having them on board!

If they blocked the trade of artifacts/exploration finding of artifacts I think their other bonuses would have to go up a bit. Probably something better worked into ST2 with it's more robust characters. That said it did at least for me raise the question about motives for them and how it all fit into the ST universe cannon. Can see an ST captain gaining the kind of status to get the Templars interested in their activities and wanting someone on board. Perhaps in ST2 in addition to the various factions a Captain might be an agent for the Templars. With their limited manpower/available resources they'd need to rely on some outsiders to cover intelligence supply and transportation needs, possibly even extra manpower for certain mission types. As seen in BF Templars are an incredible combat force, but at times they would be like using a sledgehammer to swat flies.

I agree with xdesperado , if you do give all the ST Templar a block on Artifacts, some kind of boost to each one would be cool.:-)

So maybe you could make a case for the Hydra, add he adds the anti-biard, but really I see your point. Thank you. xdesperado I'm guessing you didn't see another Templar add it was a duplicate of yours?

capthawk no was a different Templar. Pretty sure I had the original Templar and if I remember correctly I tried to get a Hydra but like I said that was some time ago and I no longer have that save game as it was on my old phone.

Interesting, I didn't realize the rumors could tell you what kind of Templar... I thought "Deadly Rogue Traders..." and then it was whatever Templar happened to be there.
