When the group comes to the ancient monastery, Cortias is awaiting it. After discussing some matters between the god and the Heroes, Cortias offers help, if the group can beat him.... then, the fight begins.... but... suddenly, we have 7 Cortias imagos to fight against. I died 6 times now, because Kjartan got only one hit and dies over and over again...
my group has:
LVL 43 43 42 43
Vraes KjartanKyera Tamilin
HP 1.504 816 1.135 793
SP 302 1.451 696 568
Vraes : Burst of Speed 1, Crushing Blow 5, Ferocity 4, Natural Mastery 1, Juggernaut 1, Phalanx Shield 2, Savage Sweep 10, Stone Skin 8
The definition of "weaker" vary from group to group. Also by this time you should know the general pattern of NPC AI and be able to exploit it to lure opponents to attack desired heroes and avoid attacking undesirable ones.

my question was, how tzo come with the weaker Heroes into a safe position, i guess, come along the 5 MP guys?
Let me try to give some more helpful answers:
1) If Kjartan seems to be your Achilles' Heel, coddle him as much as you can in the fight. 2) If you have +5 MP heroes, don't let Kjartan fall behind. He needs to have a little cloud of other heroes around him until you get clear. 3) But not too close, as the deadly ranged attackers may use AoE against you and hit Kjartan 4) If you are dying, immediately run. Considering spending the first two turns dropping -AP curses and running. Running SE toward the wall outcrop, or running NE a little around the dais might help. 5) Deploy tough heroes who can survive to "stay behind" a little behind the running team to take the majority of the hits. 6) I bet it is the ranged shades that are getting you, so put your initial effort on killing them. Specifically, Archer, Javeliner, and Chain Wielder (probably in that order).
If you'd like to post a screenshot, you'll need to upload it to another service like imgur, etc. Then when you reply, you can use the image tab button in the editor bar.
One of the nice things about the start is that all the ranged guys are south eastish. If you drag the fight west or northwest you can avoid a couple rounds of shots. If I remember there is a bit of a funnel that you can go to and try to fight only 2 or so at a time. Remember if you end your turn out of sight of the ranged they move and waste their turn great, if they stay still and let you do the same thing next round awesome! You should try to take out the ranged as that is what is going to take out Kjartan. Maaaybe consider respecing Kyera to EA 6 so she can take out a lot of the punch from the ranged Cortias' without exposing herself as you need no line of sight to curse. Good luck, I would probably rate this as the hardest fight in the game so far, very satisfying to beat.
You wanna run past that hammer guy. There is also one guy out of the pic who has a chain and spike. His attacks are ranged (shocked me) and he has a curse which takes off 200 max hp. The bow guy should be first priority to curse and kill. The 2 spears guy is a javelin thrower, needs to die next. Spike guy 3rd, hammer, double sword, normal cortias 2 tanks last. If you are taking hits just outfit Vraes in all the parry and dodge gear you can find. I was avoiding everything that fight with about 33 parry and 35 dodge. If you can get to those numbers nothing should be hitting you often (nightmare). 1500 hp means that anything can hit you except the hammer, try to kill that guy right after the ranged. Don't be afraid to health potion to full to let Kyera unload on something to kill it faster. You gotta get their numbers down or they eventually overwhelm you.
oh, I just looked at your Vraes build. You need to get him to be more tanky. I am not sure if you can survive with those stats without getting really lucky. First, you should only be investing in 1 attack, 2 at most (juggernaut and 1 other because juggernaut is slightly situational) and you have points in CB, FEROCITY, savage sweep, and juggernaut. You have 18 points invested into talents that you cannot possible use all the time. Choose 1 (I suggest CB but any work) and stick with it, ignore the others, you only need 1 enhanced attack. Invest in PS, all the way to 10. It's huge, it blocks tons of ranged attacks and gives him a sick amount of parry, essential on tank Vraes IMO. Consider BR, this may seem counter to building tank like I am suggesting but his killing power goes nuts with this talent.
Kjartan - again lack of focus here. Choose firebolt or firestorm, investing that much into being versatile (AE and single target) is costing you a lot of utility. There are lots of ways to go with him. CA 10 is great to get everyone to hit and hit hard. MS 6 or 10 on all the cortias' mean all they will be missing lots. BB 10 (just got upgraded and is FANTASTIC) will upgrade all damage (cortias is low on res) and up spike damage with crits. I have always ignore PFS but that is according to taste. It is certainly doing nothing for you in this fight though.
Kyera - ok, jack of all trades here. Needs focusing. WS 10 is awesome and boosts everyone's survivability significantly. Purifying Breeze really only needs to be at 1 to do its job at decursing. Pick it or Myshana's Tears and ignore the other heal, the utility of doing both is not worth the cost, you only need 1 heal. Myshana's Tears does not need to be that high. Get it to patch healing levels, doing 800+ healing is not valuable in most situations and if you need it then cast a 400 point heal twice. You have Banishment, Retribution and Smite. Again, choose 1 attack and stick with it. If going magic get her a staff, they are awesome and boost her damage output a lot while taking the 8 points from smite and investing in other talents. If staying mace and shield get rid of those spells and spend the 8 points on buffs and curses while doing awesome mace damage. EA 6 is hot, especially in this fight. It cripples everyone but the hammer guy and she can blast off 3 casts a round.
Tamilin - precision pick points need to be taken out, that talent has no function beyond its level 1 (besides a very non-useful AE). The rest of this is just preference, your build on Tamilin is pretty solid, I just feel it could be focused better. If you are going Farsight 2 then I feel Blacknight should be levelled a lot more to give you surprise rounds to take advantage of the point in Farsight. If that is not to your taste then take the point out of Farsight. You also have silent stalker 3 but little ability to surprise things. If you do not want to build stealth then don't invest into this, you are losing a lot of the benefit of this talent (although granted it still has -armour). RO 10 can get a bit expensive IMO for little overall gain. I would suggest you get RO 1 (which will AE, be way cheaper, and hit nearly as hard while freeing up 9 talent points) and put points into DI (awesome talent, buffs all attacks by Tamilin). RO 1 and DI 10 will do more damage than RO 10 by itself at a significantly cheaper cost. ToS 1 is not bad, all I can suggest is getting it to the AE or going heavy to level 8 to get the -2 AP. If you have no throwing skill and can't hit things with it then take the point out and invest elsewhere.
I found the 9 flowers and took them to the storm brothers. Gained entrance to the destroyed monastery. The Paladin said Cortias was near. But despite defeating all monsters and searching every square inch of the site could never find this boss fight. Any advice? Love this game.

Wow, well, I needed to get spoiled by the tactic here (and on the other thread) and... it has been no use yesterday night. I keep dying XD So far, I reached more than 33 deaths. A plus 10 or so for this fight. And still, I don't see the end of it, I killed none of Cortias, the two-bladed Cortias and the two-handed sword-Cortias keep exploding Vraes in one or two turns. Maybe his dodge isn't enough... 37 parry and 29 Dodge if I recall, above 1700HP. Enough against everything except here. I followed the tactics here (it feels natural to choose it, being in the middle and at close ranged is pure suicide). Ranged Cortias are not much of a problem (yet, they have no time to do anything ^^). The respec on Vraes wouldn't do much as his defense is maxed. I may try to go a lot farther from them for a long time. I may miss move points, but it doesn't feel like it is a problem.
I'm considering coming back later, when leveling will allow me to max all defenses, even though it means tougher Cortias too. Maybe it'll be impossible though... I don't what will come next and if it'll be accessible later. I focus on Ellista and locating Ravenna. So far, so good against her Iron Circle, I'll write on my thread on it later.
I must say, nice job here :-). I didn't expect such a fight at this time and with this configuration. Kind of relieved to read from matrim that is probably one of the hardest one. Good one !
