So I was starting a new female II Agent EX (my fav class) on hard difficulty (which still gives me fits) and was on about day 7.
I had already scored about 40exp, bought a Dataport II, 40MP of headware, a decent jacket and an MX Defender. Needless to say I was feeling set up but seriously needed to upgrade my computer.
I had just finished a high profile job and saw that Vinny had 3 easy delivery jobs all in Back Bay Slums. Well you can abuse a 1 job computer via phone connectors, and it was an easy 1k worth of work so I took the first job and taxied to K horizon turf even though every dead Knight I have played was telling me in the back of my head to tell Vinny to frag off and not set foot in sec land.
I do the first two jobs easy enough, heat is only 1 bar. I grab the 3rd job and BAM, an encounter. My heart sinks as I read it. Its a secured drop. I KNOW I should leave it alone. I KNOW I shouldn't get involved. I KNOW the last 2 secure drops caused me damage, heat and sent a patrol after me. but I couldn't resist.
I hack open the encryption.
I get no toasts, no bold screen, no experience, so I pause and actually read all the print.
Inside was a Nikklon Cylor 4.0
My heat jumped through the roof but no one was around. No one shot at me. I wasn't being followed.
I slinked to the hotel 10 min away and slept and slotted the new computer, cutting off my heat.
I can't believe how lucky I was to stumble onto a nice 4 job computer while trying to save up for one and doing something you normally would be punished for doing.
This game keeps surprising me.
