could you elaborate on this? And also as this question doesn't deserve a thread, how do you access this forum through the android app?.

Would shared Maps mean that you could have one Captain encounter another of your Captains? Say I stay in Orbit of Galantia Cross with Brutus Aurelius and leave him idling in 250AE. Would Irex Javat be able to encounter him if she enters Orbit of Galantia Cross in 250 AE? That sounds awesome, but if the captains have very low rep with each other's factions you could be forced to kill one of your characters.

And also as this question doesn't deserve a thread, how do you access this forum through the android app?. Personally I just use my phone's browser (Chrome). The navigation is a little different, but you get used to it. I know you can use other apps as well (tapatalk?), but I haven't heard anyone super happy with those either.

xdesperado, can you give pointers on how to change that setting. chronic, i tried tapatalk for a while but stopped using it because it didn't seem to make things that much better and they upped the permissions.

Usually your browser app will have a button upper right corner of screen with drop down menu. Click on that and scroll down. Should be an option you can click to display as desktop view. On my Samsung S6 using the default chrome browser it's listed as Request Desktop Site and has a check box. I use that for all my web browsing not just this site as most mobile sites are a pain and lack functionality in my experience.

I haven't read all 10 pages of this thread yet.
During a Solar War, and if ship morale falls too low, one of your crew from an opposing faction could try and sabotage the ship. Such as shutting down the engines while being pursued by one of his home faction ships.

Oh come on John Robinson, reading 10 pages is a piece of cake. Try reading the Torp Thread in one sitting

John Robinson's idea is pretty good, if you have a solar war going on between your (the captain's) faction and a crew member's -and- morale is lower than, say, 4 or 5, maybe that crew member tries to sabotage the ship a bit. Could just display as an increased chance of solar accidents, or there could be a toast saying "someone has sabotaged the <insert ship component> and <caused something>." Cool idea, Balgair!

As we're currently looking at sabatoge and dereliction of duty as low level forms of mutiny, this might fit.
I will look into tying some of those mechanics to Conflicts as well as Rumors. The system currently supports some interaction between mutineers and Rumors, so Conflicts isn't a stretch.

we could also make records function more like CK ... where they are a factor of the Faction data rather than cargo. So for each Faction you'd have Rep/Rank/Permit/Edict and "pay data" which would be collected information about the Faction that you could sell to different parties. I feel like that approach works better and fits some of the overall game design architectural direction we're taking with Cargo in general -- that is, non-cargo shouldn't be cargo. This makes sense to me because you're selling data. And not the kinda thing you'd pick up on the local exchange

So I was thinking. Could we have more interaction with ships we encounter? Say when you encounter a merchant vessel, you can ply them for rumors
similar to a spice hall. You could also choose to trade cargo as good merchants should. Similarly, perhaps we can (if taking a ship by force) choose
to assume that ships 'contracts' in order to lessen or even nullify the rep damage done by sacking the ship in the first place.

As I said about, the combat preamble in ST2 will be much, much more advanced than ST RPG. ST RPG gives you two options -- surrender or fight. It fakes a third option, Acknowledge, by predicting that you won't be harmed by Surrendering. ST2 will have a much more sophisticated pre-combat workflow. This makes space in the design for operating, under Conflict or Rumor, as a more official part of your Faction's military (even temporarily.) That gives us a chance to add rules like forcing enemy Smugglers to surrender, inspecting Merchants, etc. Will there be a bluff option rolled off of say intimidate + strength or charisma + leadership ? This is something I would really like to see. The time honored tradition of bullshitting your way out of a situation.
