How do you refuel and repair multiple ships with repair ships and refuel ships. Based on the additional cost, I assume this can be done else it has no benefit over refuel ship and repair ship (no plural). But whenever I select one ship, it refuels and loses all AP before I can select another ship. Also, is there a way to hit multiple targets with torpedo spread?

Multi-refuel allows the carrier to refuel up to 5 ships in one shot (the ship you target, plus up to 4 ships in squares adjacent to the target ship). Here's a link to a thread that explains the uses and limitations pretty clearly, with screenshots: <4 points in Repair Skill will limit Multi Refuel capability. Multi-repair works the same way. Torpedo Spread increases damage, and the chance of hitting your target, but still only allows you to hit one target at a time. This is consistent with the way Torpedo Spreads historically have been used in submarine attacks: Several straight-running torpedoes (frequently 3) fired at a high-value target, maybe a second or so apart, to increase the likelihood that the target would be hit, even if the estimate of distance or target-speed was slightly off. Because reloading torpedo-tubes is not a quick process, the maximum number of torps that can be fired in a single spread is limited to the number of 'tubes in one end (bow or stern) of the sub. In the case of large slow-moving targets, when the estimates were good, more than one torp per spread would commonly hit the target, resulting in increased damage. Ships in combat don't travel close enough together that more than one ship would normally be hit by the same spread of torpedoes. If a ship other than the intended target was hit, that almost inevitably meant that the intended target was missed by a wide margin. And BTW, welcome to the Forums. I strongly encourage you register! It's a great community full of helpful folks, and it's free.

Torpedo Spread will hit multiple targets in a plus shape pattern. The targets must be adjacent to each other, however. Each target gets a separate defense and Damage roll.

Thanks Brutus Aurelius, I never knew that. I'll try to get some screenshots of this and post them. There was a bug preventing it from working for a few builds. One thing in 4X to keep in mind is that AoE is fully static, non-cone and no angular calculations are done.
