Ah ok... The panel looked like it was within ship comms, but the choices implied it was more exterior to the ship as well, often those have different needs and systems in place, so just wanted to understand it better. I do like the idea of the sandstorm in that case, because it gives a challenge both to our crew, but also to any would be pursuers. A nice double edged sword.

All right, vote for the sandstorm recorded While Ace is inside the ship, he is trying to radio broadcast to the others. The next page / panels should make it more clear about Derrick and the other 3's positions. Definitely a challenge with the CYOA style, ... to make the choices fun, you all need lots of context, pre-warning, backstory. So, thanks for asking for it -- it helps make this more fun! (A) It's the convoy = +2 Votes (C) Unexecpted Sandstorm (it's just one of those days) = +4 Votes (E) Equipment failure = +1 Vote (F) Nefarious activity by one of the crew = +1 Vote

Thinking about using the next few pages to shift from the action in the cargo hold to do introductions of all the other crew members. It will be a short interlude with some funny polls, and then we'll get on to this hand-off!
And it seems like a sandstorm.

Yeah, the voting system is pretty informal. I've taken more than one answer a number of times because people are excited about it. The last officer poll we just took all the characters Thanks for the votes all!

Just to close this out (as I have started the next page tonight) -- it is officially the sandstorm. Bad luck kind of day for the crew of the Vigilant.

Depends how you view the "luck". At the very least, everybody is on the same terms. Heh. Heh.

anrdaemon - yes, good point. It makes you wonder what a caravan of ground crawlers would want to do when a sandstorm sweeps in. Maybe retreat to the canyon they came out of.

Well, if the sandstorm isn't powerful enough to do any sever damage to the ship, or the crawlers, they would probably continue on. Are the crawlers the same as the Exo-crawlers that can be installed on ships?

Brutus Aurelius - I think its going to have to be a monster. Exo-crawlers are either multi-track tank like things, or actually 8 legged spider walkers designed for super stability in traversing terrain. The RTV or ground crawlers are going to be more like military trucks.

The votes on the choice on page 15 have been cast, and the radio interference is coming from a major brewing sandstorm. This page, we're sticking to the outside of the ship and moving through introductions for 3 of the 4 new officers that were created in the recent officer poll. We'll get to Argus and the sandstorm soon and then gun straight for wrapping this endless scene up and moving on! Took some extra time with this page to get a really strong feeling for reach character. Derrick doesn't like crow's nest duty, but he's good at it. I am especially happy with Julia's casual lean while driving. This page's Choice Poll for all Patreons wth voting rights ($2+) is a little on the lighter side and a bit of character building. What are Orchid and Julia arguing about? I hope we can keep this on the rails and make sure it stays cool for our all of our readers. Remember to check out their officer profiles here so we can try to build on their starting character. Some ideas -- - Who would win if they were in a knife fight? - Who is more annoying, Thulun or Steel Song men? - Orchid asked about Julia's navy discharge -- bad subject! - Something funny or character building! Lol, I hope the wheels don't come off with this one
