Welcome to the Vigilante Skies project, a choose-your-own-adventure style comic set in the Star Traders universe. The right to vote on polls, choices, and character story is reserved for Patreons pledging $2 or more. A big thanks to the Patreons for making this free comic possible for everyone to enjoy. Comments, suggestions, feedback always welcome! Here are the opening words from Capt Ava: "Three years ago, we took a simple smuggling job from a fixer. One job turned into another and more, as the pay was flush. In time, we came to know our employers, a covert intelligence team of eight code-named Mercury Third.
We spent a year tracking back and forth across the Quadrant for them, smuggling, running secret messages, spying. In that time, friendships were formed (more on that later), and while they were tight-lipped about their work, I knew that they served the Prince Cade Saung of Steel Song on some unspoken critical mission.
Our time together ended abruptly when we returned to the Mercury Third hideout on Metta Prime to find it ransacked, all of their number murdered, and their equipment and data stores razed. We fled and did not look back.
Years have passed. Some months better than others, some raw. None of us expected to see a data cube with the faded branding of Mercury Third come aboard our ship on a regular smuggling run for our fixer, Voddax.
I decided to take the risk. For comrades years dead, but comrades still. A message was sent to Prince Saung. The good Prince offered a high price for the last scrap of data from the Mecury Third team. Very high. Today, we landed on the wild world of Lioka Cross to unload the data cube into the hands of the Prince's agents. Voddax will be angry, but the Credits are too good. And it's a way to honor old friends."

The two crew will be featured in the next page, and now considering doing a cool little interstitial page where they each get a name and a write up.

For a second there, I thought there was a fist attached to the bounty hunter's foot. lol Ava did manage to get her injured wing in between the boot and her face ... mostly at least. I must have spent 10 minutes researching comic book "sounds" for this page. Eventually found a great library of them, and Klock! was specifically described as "sound made when being kicked in the head." Lol

Tonight, we've taken a step back to page 5 to close the officer poll and get some faces associated with the new characters who just stepped onto the scene. Unfortunately, already clamped in binders, they are going to have limited options to help to the Captain in the coming moments! This post is also on our Patreon - www.patreon.com/posts/5182722 A big thanks the Patreons who are helping to make this project possible so that we can share it with everyone. Introducing ... Raven Leclaire - Medical Officer with an obsessive love of studying the quadrants Flora and Fauna, Always badgering the captain to land on this god for saken rock or that for her hobby. Despite this she is one of the most highly skilled medical proffessionals in the quadrent. - Highly respected by the rest of the crew as she has saved their lives more than once, whether an ice collection accident or battle injuries. - Petite yet fit and strong (from those meandering biology expeditions) with short hair and a calm reassuring face. - Never falters or hesitates to help her wounded comrades or the innocent even at the risk of her own skin and fiercely loyal to her captain. - Never shuts up about this plant or this bug or that microbe!!! Don't give her too much Vudka though, annoying drunk ... and ... Apone "Zippo" Mitchell - Ace pilot - Fearless when flying and in the face of death - Has lots of experience, came up through a hard childhood on an independent world before Capt Avenira spotted his talent - Phobic of strangers and crowds (stuttering, uncoordinated around them), is only really comfortable on his ship with his crew - Takes almost sadistic pleasure in scaring the sh*t out of his crew with absurd yet brilliant maneuvers and will likely be the death of his captain, not with a crash but through stress The next panel (8) will continue the action!

Jumping back to page 8 ... Stylistically, trying to clean up the lines and move toward a simpler rendering style here. I am sure I will wrestle with this for a while. Storywise, I promise to knock out another panel next week so things can start getting back right again And then we will get back to polls quickly! Thanks to everyone for your support on Patreon and helping me continue to develop this project. It has a continual, positive impact on my art training. Wow! Looking good so far Andrew!
Now, a quick question. Are those little "Hit/Miss/Ricochet"s provided by that flip up sight?

Wow! Looking good so far Andrew! Now, a quick question. Are those little "Hit/Miss/Ricochet"s provided by that flip up sight? That is the idea! I'm glad it came across that way. The advanced sighting tech on his hexshell rifle is calling shots. At that range and with a rolling target, 3 out of 4 ain't bad ... well, it's bad for Ava.

Sorry but at that range, he's an incredibly bad shot, especially if using a high tech sight. While getting "Hit" once is never good, she's extremely lucky the guy is so bad otherwise she'd be dead with at least 2 shots through the chest and one in the head.

No one claimed he was a good Bounty Hunter, except he said it himself I think And you know how that goes ... The ricochet would have been a direct hit, except for the body armor, more on that later. Both the rifle and the sight are built for longer range fire, but more on that later too. Lol, still no excuse for bad shooting

Either she is MADE of buffs or that guy attended the Imperial Gunnery School on Coruscant. I think she found a rare suit of artefact plot armor that she keeps on under her shipsuit.
