I've been considering messing around to see if I can make an unusual, but effective, combat build. For this I need to know if high warrior or intimidate will reduce the odds that the enemy will successfully board you if you are trying to gun or ram at close range.
I know those stats are critical for offense boarding rolls, but I just don't know about initial defense rolls.

Best defense Pilot, Engine, Quickness + Ship Armor.
Weapons don't help on the first Boarding of a Combat.
Heavy Bulkheads give you a big stack on the Pilot bonus.
Having an Agile Ship gives you big stack on Engine / Quickness.
