Here are a few suggestions from a list I have been keeping. I suspect several of these have been made before, but the below-suggested implementations may be new.
I very much enjoy the game and intend to buy copies for friends when their birthdays roll around! (Also, I purchased Heroes of Steel because Templar Battleforce was so excellent):
Display-Oriented Suggestions
-Health Bars:
Show health bars over unit heads on the tactical map. Under the current status quo, it can sometimes be difficult to tell when people are taking damage. Make this option toggleable since some people will not want to see health bars for their Templars constantly floating above them.
-Multi-Target:
It is sometimes difficult to tell how many people will be affected by a given powerup-or which ones who are adjacent will be affected, thus:
What if the Templars to be affected glow green on their "bases" much as when they are highlighted in a blue circle when each individual Templar is selected. (It would be better if the Templars' bodies outlines glowed in blue or green... but I think that would be more difficult for you to adjust than just having their character bases glow green).
-Difficult to See Enemies on Fire:
When enemies are on fire, it is difficult to see them.
Perhaps, highlight their bodies in blue or green--or, since that will probably be difficult-have their character bases highlight in blue or green just like the selection circles on the Templars.
-Buffs Icon: (Already Present)
It is difficult to tell what buffs are on each Templar or how long they remain? Can a small icon or text be placed on the templar's image with that info? If not that, then can the information be indicated on the templar's character sheet when you select detailed info about the Templar during the battle? (If this feature already exists in some fashion, please point me in that direction--I would find it quite useful).
-Damage Amount Indicator:
When I select an attack, it notifies me how much 'extra' damage I might do... I might just have missed this in reading the attacks-but it does not tell me the total potential damage (adding my other damage modifications). I would rather not do calculations from the Templar Info sheet to calculate the total damage--it would be nice if that total damage would display when I select an attack, so I have an easy idea of my damage potential;.
-What are Heavy Weapons?:
Some heavy and light weapons are indicated in their descriptions, but others are not-like the Hydra Incinerator (I suppose it is heavy).
The Strength description states it modifies Heavy Weapons... but I don't know which weapons it actually affects.
Please label the Heavy and Light weapons to make determining between them less of a guessing game.
-Portraits:
Congratulations on adding more variety to the portraits! Here's an idea that may add even more to variety...I don't think it would look too ugly- you have a number of human portraits, what if you cut them into thirds or quarters and make some of them movable like a Mr. Potato-Head. E.g. you could have Mr. A's forehead, on Mr. B's eyes, on Mr. C's mouth. This could be an easy way to multiply the portrait options... as long as the end result doesn't look too Frankenstein (you can disable combination options that simply do not work).
-A Templar Has Died:
Not 100% necessary, but sometimes when a Templar dies, I do not immediately realize it has happened or who has died (I do not always watch the screen when the enemy is acting and I am sure I am not alone in this)... I usually have to do a quick memory inventory after I see an exploded corpse. Perhaps it might be a good idea to have a pop-up stating that "Lucius the Templar has died!" This feature might even be better for Tablet Players than PC players...since I suppose that tablet players are more likely to be distracted and look away from the screen AND they cannot as easily see the entire map in one glance as can a PC player.
"More Stuff" Suggestions
-New Ordnance Idea (Coolant):
(apologies if this is already in and I missed it)
Ordnance to cooldown heat: "Coolant"
I really enjoy the idea of the ordnance but I only seem to have 2 types to deploy--healing...and something else I never use (I have completed about 15 missions). It would be nice to have other tactical options to make the Tactical Points even more interesting.
