PC Normal Diff. Map: Drop Shaft
I had a Soldier with Overwatch and a Sentry Turret (Level 2) covering the exact same block of squares on the left of the tactical point with Overwatch. The Turret fired and hit enemies, but the Soldier never fired.
Is this intended?
Soldier (Level 9, I think): Weapon: Heavy Leviathan Special: X-Jacket Ammo Overwatch I Bullseye Lock Leviathan Armor Armored Gauntlet Had 0AP and 0MP after setting overwatch. She may have also had Rallying Charge and Commanders Confidence boosts on her.

Ah, I see. The explanation is at 5:40 in that video. Thank you! -(1)(a)As a suggestion that maybe I should pose in a separate thread on on the wish list (I will cut and paste the following into a wish list thread, if you prefer): is there an in-game way to explain this concept, that if you overlap overwatch, the if tiles are set by two templars or a templar and a sentry as both overlapped, the overlapped tiles will only be watched by one Templar. E.g. a templar stating "Don't overlap your overwatch--Templars will not cross fire with each other." -(1)(b)Even better would be for feedback about the overlapped tiles to be demonstrated in-game each mission. I have three ideas of how this may be done: (A) Just the overlapped portion of the overlapping overwatch loses its color- that signal might be too subtle, but maybe something could be done with that? (B) demonstrate the overlapped area with as red X indicators, as opposed to the blue tiles that are displayed when overwatch properly functions. Then, a player would have feedback that the tiles that are overlapped have something wrong with them. The only reason I don't like seeing the red Xes on the overlap is that the original overwatch would still hit enemies--so the information being conveyed is not entirely apt... (C) Every Templar has different colored overwatches; then the non-operative overwatch overlay could not display in the overlapped area (this option probably requires a lot of work on your end to implement)... -(1)(c)Maybe someone else has a better idea of how to implement feedback about that information? -(1)(d)Alternatively...you probably have balance reasons for not allowing this, but personally as a player, I would like for the overlapping overwatches to work, if that's an option as a request.

Vae Victus - thanks for the feedback! I've added notes on this to our roadmap, but in a low priority section. There are lots of other higher priorities atm. We won't be making overlapped OW's work, as it is a definitely balance concern. The library already includes an explanation of this under the Overwatch entry.

Heh, yes, I could see where there might be some balance concern with the ability to close down chokepoints reliably, but in the later levels I spend a lot more time wishing for more OW zones, not worrying about how I can screw NPCs over by worrying about overlap type traps.

Maybe this recent YouTube would help? I talk a lot about how to use Overwatch in defensive maneuvers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXFbNe2i6wc
