We always start with our three colony hives together. It would be cool to have a map or two where they start in different locations. It could create some interesting player decisions. Do you expand in such a way as to join up quickly, or do you go where the best planets are and let each faction fend for itself?

The engine doesn't support this, but I think it is something we could add. We'd just have to get the BF starting position system into ST 4X and we could do all sorts of stuff with split starts, or even alternate weird ships.

This sounds really cool. Lore wise say something went wrong with the jump calculations and they got seperated

I'm afraid not Those are two totally different sets of work with no overlap at all. Doing them together would make it harder to test and deploy. We'll just have to keep chipping away at the bug and feature list as best we can with the budget we have.
