I wanna start a perma death game next, my running game feels kinda done with 3 nano ready, augmented hounds. Got some questions though: - I will chose 25% disadvantage and poverty, but I am not sure about world hostility. I don't really want to get spammed with a negative encounter every step I take, I think- but I do want the game to be difficult. Any recommendations for a reasonable setting? Or go all in with +4? - Class-wise, I figure the only competition is between agent ex and sniper(don't want dogs this time). I think ultimately ex is the better choice. But maybe I underestimate the deadly shot skill? 'Attack score' determines chance to hit, right? I will want to use a sniper rifle till they close in and I seem to recall seeing a lot of 1 accuracy rifles.. can they even be handled reasonably without that skill? - If I understand correctly the way not to waste xp is to never have skills higher than attributes. So I should never raise stealth above 4 if my dex is 4? And then raise dex to 5 before stealth to 5? (and not raise strength, in that case). Is there more to it? Thanks guys! PS: I am seriously addicted to this game right now. I enjoy it more than I do Star Traders, HoS and Battle Force. Way more.

blaa - World Hostility does not increase the rate of encounters, only their difficulty and likelihood of showing up as unfortunate types. Attack Score = chance to hit. You'll definitely want to upgrade your rifle first as a Sniper. The help file has an exact explanation of XP spending, but you're on the right idea. Also, make sure to focus your spending on the right set of Attributes instead of spreading that XP around to ones you don't need. Glad you're loving Cyber Knights! One of my all time favorite titles. Yeah ck2 would be awesome, hope you can do it. So.. is +4 like a suicide setting, making every encounter extra hard? Also I'd appreciate more input into the whole ex vs sniper issue Which one will come out stronger in the end, with optimal gear?

blaa - the classes are all very competitive in my opinion. It means you'll need different gear and you'd want to build a different team of Runners around you. No, the +4 doesn't make it that bad, honestly. You'll need to focus more on taking options that cater to the skills you have strength in.

So +4 it is Is it possible to use those 1 accuracy rifles just on a high firearm skill alone or do you need the deadly shot talent for those to be useful? That is the deciding factor for me

blaa - definitely possible, but I think the answer is firmly "it depends" on who you are shooting. grävling has written at length about the Rifles in the game, maybe someone can dig up her posts on exactly how to do it best. I am sure her recommendation would be to immediately go update your rifle if you are a sniper.

Ok I found the spread sheet by rivvin and according to that I have the strongest weapon in my running game anyway, the x7 rapid fire. Did not know it was THE strongest one. Since that one has 6 acc anyways, and 3 speed, that pretty much settles it for ex, since ex ability makes the weapon stronger and sniper weaker(limit it to 1 shot). Also my secondary is the cobra... guess one cant be geared much better... docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vH5YQuRvgKIPLo3DaoSfcpm3pp1CpiUGLvZIu4KTFgM/htmlview#Edit: though maybe my reasoning is wrong here, that sheet is sorted by damage per ap spent but there may be circumstances where spending more ap for more damage overall is better regardless of ap efficiency

blaa - yeah, there are lots of ways to approach it. Kill Shot is very good at taking out enemies who have heavier armor. You are aiming for a single-shot kill, which means your AP is going to be less than using a MG where you need lots of shots to take an enemy out. "Best" is a term relative to a strategy I think

Ugh ok I cant take max settings. Too much for me. Had a few knights die but my current one I just deleted because I got tired of fight after fight after fight that drags on and on with miss, miss, armor save, ... Think I will try less world hostility, maybe it is more bearable then. I would really like to know what world hostility does to encounters- does it influence number and type of enemies? And my chances to hit them?
