Normal; PC
Stratos: Research Hall
First: I enjoyed the map greatly. I liked how I had to go out and bring back people and the large amount of secondary objectives that I knew I could pursue and the even larger amount of ordnance secondary objectives that were scattered. This is one of the best maps in the game.
SPOILERS
-I played on Normal and I finished in 35 turns. 32 turns was the goal. I moved maximum with the scientists (4) each turn. Even if I had used both discovered reactor jolts on 2 of the 3 scientists, that would have left one for dead and I think I still would have only finished in 31 turns. Now... I may have been slightly inefficient in reaching the scientists by 2-3 turns longer than I could have, but that still seems to be cutting the goal very short since I was running on Normal... and thus did not have to worry about heat. Also, admittedly, I could have bought the ordnance Reactor Jolt, if I had unlocked it, so if it is by design that I must buy a number of reactor jolts to end the level in 35 turns, then I understand... though I still suggest that a player finds 3 instead of 2 reactor jolts in the cache so as to not punish players who have not decided to unlock that particular ordnance from the scout tree.
-The route I took was to send 3 Templars down the far right and 2 down the center, leaving 1 guarding each tact point apiece (a scout and an engineer), then recruiting an additional soldier and hydra to boost the defense duties.
-The game commented that not taking the tact points is an option... I don't see any reason to *not* take the tact points. I ran with my engineer (who can move 7)- took the first on turn 2, then ran over and in 2 more turns took the second tact point, all with moving the others maximum. If the tact points had not been taken, it could have been hellish getting back. Maybe place the tact points farther apart?
-It was extremely easy to take the additional secondary objective computer rooms. I moved my Captain to one and a soldier to the other while the other Templars escorted the scientists back.
Thus, the wishes:
(1) Adjustment to Locations and/or Amount of Turns. Hopefully my experience will provide assistance if you want to re-consider the location of the tact points, the secondary objective computer rooms,and/or the amount of turns (or amount of speed boosts given--provide 3 Reactor Jolts instead of 2, so an astute player can equip all the scientists and doesn't have to leave one to die). (I still suggest 3 Reactor Jolts rather than 2... but because of the issue pointed out to me in #2 below... most players at this point in the campaign will have access to at least one of the speed talents that can boost others, so this wish is less necessary and more of a possible "good to have" thing).
(2) New Templar Talent. Alternatively, if a templar could give a speed boost to other templars, that could be a good Talent (apologies if I missed a pre-existing talent that does this). The talent could go with the Paladin or the Scout. (It was pointed out to me that the Captain and Soldier already are able to give speed boosts to others... It might be interesting if the Paladin or Scout could do so as well, but I suppose you have already considered that for balance reasons)
(3) More of a Bug... combined with a wish for clarification: Every single step I take in the extraction point, each character says "We must bring Throll to the extraction point". This amount of reminding seems excessive and it makes it very annoying getting people sorted into the extraction point. (Note: It is possible that only she needed to get to the point and I did not need to get all my Templars in or the other scientists (since the map ended when she entered the extraction point) but that was not clear. One objective was to get my entire team back to the extraction point.
