If CK does this to you, I fear what you will become with SoS... Does this look right? Attributes (6 of these) STR DEX CON WILL INT CHA Skills (8 of these) Melee Ranged Sorcery Conjuration Traps Lockpicking Running Dodge What could we swap out for extra betterness? (not bitterness)

change 'sorcery' to 'alteration' if you are gonna use the term 'conjuration'
lol - sorry - too many games!
if you can fit 12 skills into the game, you can make some focused on CHA

I am not sure what this list is for, but if its a d&d type game, it seems short on clerical matters. So 'healing' and 'wisdom' perhaps? skill in using a shield for defence, or wielding 2 weapons, one in each hand are also common skills for games of this type, as is pickpocketting, and the ability to backstab for extra damage.

LED for leadership instead of charisma...my opinion there
SUR for survival rather than dodge....more options for uses is my reasoning

Don't hang me for this one...but traps and lockpicking should be same skill that way you have room for a social based skill

My previous post can also refer to running and dodge for similar reasons yes, too many things relating to DEX nothing for CHA ------------------------------------------------------------ question and suggestion? Sorcery - a studied form of magic? (went to academy) ->INT Conjuring - a natural form of magic? (born to cast) ->WILL [wisdom?] is this whats going on? because i think if there are two schools of magic, both mental stats should be used [imho] ------------------------------------------------------------ and... with 6 attributes, can you bump it up to 12 skills? [from 8] makes room for demands [like CHA] -------------------------------------------------------------- yes, ok... im freaking out... thanks!

Shouldn't Wizardry be the type of magic you learn from schools while Sorcery are the type you were born with?
Conjuring just means that you could conjure/summon some kinda extraplanar creatures from whatever dimensions. I propose that we are able to summon Templars and Xenos. ;D
Wait... how did a thread named "Faction Advancement" end up becoming a thread to decide the future of "Secrets of Steel"?!
And wait... for a game called "Secrets of Steel", why is there no skill for Forging?!

Since conjuration and sorcery are not real skills they could be whatever the heck the game designer wants and could be used for almost anything....since its "magic". Don't really have to follow the english translation here.
For the missing aspects that people may want you could spin conjuration to cause fireballs to hutle at enemies because you conjure it out of nowhere(even though most people would expect it from sorcery),you could combine it with str for forging because you conjure a better weapon or improvements. You could spin sorcery and combine it with will for faith type abilities, combine it with int for more traditional conceptions of what magic should be.
Gotta realize when someone is making a game they will want some their worlds stuff to stand out at as their own and not just going along the lines of what everybody is used to, because that's one of the ways you can make a game truly your own.
