Looking at Vraes, KJ, Kyera and Selen. Have two ways to knock armor down but nothing to lower magic resistance for immolation or banishment. Not interested in Fyona. If a curse or an attack that straps resistance required for NM magic attacks the same way armor reduction is? Haven't made it far but trying to hit enemies that haven't already been Ashed is futile at time. Will I be seeing the same problems with immolation and banishment as I go on?

Without Fyona or Tamilin, there is no way to lower actual resistance.
Dodge is still tied to whether or not you're going to hit, so I would work on getting Ash up as high as you can first. Once you get it to 10, you can consider Immolation as a way to increase overall damage due to increased crit percentage.
Just to clarify for you in case you need it-- Parry curse effects will affect the enemy's ability to block *melee* attacks, where Dodge curse effects will affect the enemy's ability to dodge any ranged attack, whether it's bow/thrown/or attack spells like Banishment and Immolation.
Hope any of this helps!

Enemy Resistance is far less than enemy armor and scales slower as well (just like with your Heroes, generally). So, it is less critical to have a curse against it. You can be very effective with magical damage without such a curse.

Something to note here is Kjartan's burning blades buff. Fire damage items stack wonderfully with it. Once fire damage reaches the 30ish mark it should be consistently beating most mobs resistance and fire damage is just as valuable as normal damage at that point. If you are going to All damage route I would suggest immolation. The enemy's res will get separate soak for each elemental type of damage but a crit will multiply all the different elemental damages as well resulting in some impressively huge crits (with a 1h hammer I have seen 750 damage from a normal attack on Fyona, true against a stricken target, but Vraes should be able to pump out some monster damage with FEROCITY!!!!).

Something else to note: the base damage of magic skills is calculated as physical damage, so armor curses are still effective to increase damage from magic skills. Combine it with what fallen said about resistances scaling slower to get full picture.
