When I tried to move the Assalt Fighter with red circle, from the Blue circle to the Green circle it took the longer route (Red Arrow) instead of the shortest route in green arrows.

Isn't it 3 moves either way, more fuel efficient on the green track.

no... Maybe my post wasnt as clear, I'll try again.
The red arrow path, shows 3 moves taken but it is a 4th move to get to the green circle, my desired destination. The green arrows show the correct path that would get me to the green circle in 3 moves.
I should have drawn another red arrow from the ship to the green circle (dot wioth red circle around it).

if the fuel estimation system doesn't work for you, you can plot courses over shorter distances to have more fine grained control over it. We might make it an optional feature at some point in the future.
Thanks for posting a clear description of the screenshot, that makes it a lot easier to understand.

I like the automove and prefer refueling zones, but the above shouldnt have happened. I typically double click, so often do not see the path it is preferring, especially in this case, as it is all a green refuelling zone around the planet, so the moste efficent path is to take 3 sq, not 4sq. But it decided to take the longer path. i wondered if you have preference ratings that include enemy ship avoidance, and this could have weighted the decision? If so, just disabling that would be nice.
